Nose tip correction

Not all people are completely satisfied with their external data. Sometimes a person lacks the correct shape of the nose to feel complete happiness. Undoubtedly, in many respects these problems are psychological, but in some cases, such a procedure as nose shape correction allows you to find harmony with the outside world. The essence of the procedure is to change the cartilage part. This part consists of several pairs of cartilage, the size of each element is individual. Congenital features, heredity, trauma or pathology can cause a disproportionate size of the nose or its irregular shape. In this case, rhinoplasty will help solve the problem.

Minimally invasive methods

These procedures involve shape correction using injections or special threads. In this way, minor defects can be eliminated. For example, a disproportionately lowered or forked tip of the nose.

The advantage of this technique is its high degree of safety, minimum discomfort and speed of full recovery. Disadvantages – the result is temporary, although long-term (up to several years). Correction using threads does not require general anesthesia, local anesthesia is sufficient for the procedure. Compared to injections, this technique is more effective and helps to deal with a large number of problems.

The doctor makes small punctures in the skin of the nose with a special instrument and inserts threads into them. When the required shape is modeled, the threads are fixed. In the first 2 days, the tip of the nose may be slightly swollen, but after three days, all signs, including punctures, completely disappear.

Surgical correction

In the case when minimally invasive procedures do not give the desired effect, it is advisable to opt for surgical correction of the nose tip. Surgical intervention is indicated both for congenital defects and the consequences of injuries and ailments that have led to negative results.

The essence of the operation depends on the problem that forced the patient to resort to rhinoplasty. If the purpose of the intervention is to reduce the size of the nose, then the excess tissue is cut off with a scalpel, after which cosmetic modeling sutures are applied. In the presence of hollows and concave zones, the procedure is reversed in meaning using an autochondrotransplant. From other parts of the nose, small cartilage tissue grafts are taken, with which they fill the defective areas.

If the operation is simple enough to perform and short, local anesthesia may be used. Since the patient is injected with a small amount of anesthetic, there are almost no negative consequences for the body. In other cases, general anesthesia is used. First of all, this is necessary to protect the patient from psychological discomfort during the operation.

Surgical correction of the nose is performed in an open or closed way. The closed method involves incisions and sutures located on the inner mucosa.

The absence of external seams is a guarantee of preventing the formation of visible postoperative scars. But this method somewhat narrows the possibilities of a plastic surgeon. And the recovery period is extended.

In open tip surgery, the pterygoid cartilages are accessed through an incision in the bridge area. This method improves the efficiency of the operation and minimizes the risk of medical error.

The final choice of the method of correction is determined by the specialist based on the individual parameters of the patient and the characteristics of the pathology. Some defects can be eliminated in both open and closed ways.

For example, if the tip of the nose is bifurcated, then one doctor may advise making an incision in the skin and narrowing the problem area through it, while another specialist will consider that it is more appropriate to fill the notch with additional tissues that will be introduced through the mucous membrane. The effect of operations will be different, so it all depends on the specific desires of the patient.

Indications for nose tip correction

If we talk about medical indications for performing rhinoplasty, then we can distinguish the displacement of the nasal septum. In this case, there is difficulty breathing, which poses a threat to the life and health of the patient.

Considering the issue of correction from the point of view of cosmetology, there are much more indications:

  • snub-nosedness;
  • too long or too short nose;
  • sagging or deformation of the septum;
  • unsatisfactory width of the nostrils;
  • forked tip of the nose and much more.

Immediately before the operation, the patient must undergo a complete medical examination and pass the necessary tests. If an exacerbation of chronic ailments is detected, the procedure will be postponed until the state of health stabilizes.

Contraindications for nose tip correction include: systemic blood diseases, clotting disorders, diabetes mellitus, colds or viral diseases, inflammation in the nose, oncology, pathologies of the heart, kidneys or liver.

When setting the date of the procedure for women, the menstrual cycle is necessarily taken into account – during menstruation, the operation is not performed. Pregnancy and breastfeeding involve the transfer of correction. Rhinoplasty is not performed if the patient’s age is less than 18 years.

Recovery period

Immediately after the correction, pain, swelling, redness or bleeding are not excluded. With the aggravation of unwanted symptoms, it is important to immediately contact the specialist who performed the operation.

On average, it takes one month for the full recovery of postoperative intervention to change the shape of the nose. At this time, it is forbidden to visit the bathhouse and swimming pool, play sports, wear glasses, express emotions with facial expressions. The patient must clearly control his movements even in sleep and not allow a coup on his stomach.

Additionally, a healthy diet is recommended. An excess of spicy, salty and fatty foods slows down the removal of fluid from the body – therefore, nasal swelling will persist for a longer period.
