Non-covering grape varieties

Non-covering grape varieties

Grapes have always been considered a heat-loving crop. Therefore, many gardeners living in regions with harsh winters avoided the plant. However, thanks to the work of geneticists, hybrids were bred that are not only resistant to frost, but do not even require special preparation before their onset.

Despite the fact that all uncovered grape varieties are frost-resistant, young bushes should be gradually accustomed to the cold. After planting, they need to be sheltered for another three years. In this case, you need to carry out a special procedure – wrap up later and open earlier. So the plant will receive hardening and can do without special preparation for the winter period.

All uncovered grape varieties are disease resistant

When growing, it is necessary to take into account the following features of such varieties:

  • Resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew, gray mold and phylloxera;
  • High regeneration of damaged areas;
  • The possibility of using the varieties bred from Isabella in further breeding.

Another characteristic feature of these grapes is the small size of the bunches.
