Nolpaza 20 mg – indications, dosage of the drug, contraindications

Nolpaza is a drug used in gastroenterology – it acts on the gastrointestinal tract, inhibiting the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. The preparation is taken by people suffering from reflux disease and related complications.

Indications for the use of the drug Nolpaza

Adults and adolescents after 12 years of age.

Nolpaza is a preparation used to treat the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and oesophagitis. It is also given as a preventive measure against gastric and duodenal ulcers. The active substance is pantoprazole, which works by reducing the production of acid in the stomach. Nolpaza is a prescription-only tablet formulation.

Dosage of Nolpaza

Adults and adolescents after the age of 12:

  1. Symptomatic gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily. Symptoms usually disappear after 2-4 weeks of using the preparation. In case of insufficient effect, the doctor will usually recommend using the preparation for the next 4 weeks. Recurrent symptoms are controlled by using 20 mg once a day as needed or, if such a method is not effective, by using the preparation constantly.
  2. Long-term treatment of reflux oesophagitis and prevention of its recurrence: 20 mg once daily. In the event of a relapse, the doctor will increase the dose to 1 mg once a day, and after recovery, reduce it to 40 mg once a day.

Adults:

  1. Prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by the use of non-selective NSAIDs in patients at increased risk, requiring long-term use of NSAIDs: 20 mg once a day.

Note:

  1. In people with severe hepatic insufficiency, the dose should not exceed 20 mg a day.
  2. No dosage adjustment is necessary in the elderly or in those with renal impairment.

Nolpaz and contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Nolpaza is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, sorbitol or other drugs derived from benzimidazole. Due to the lack of sufficient clinical data, the preparation is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
