Nolpaza is a drug that inhibits the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, containing a proton pump inhibitor. The preparation is indicated in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age for the treatment of reflux oesophagitis. The active substance is pantoprazole, which blocks the proton pump in the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The drug is in the form of gastro-resistant tablets and is available on prescription.

Nolpaza 40 mg – indications for use
Nolpaza 40 mg is a medicine indicated for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
- to treat reflux oesophagitis.
In adults, it is used:
- for the purpose of eradicationHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in combination with appropriate antibiotics in patients with peptic ulcer disease H. pylori,
- in the treatment of gastric or duodenal ulcers,
- in the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome,
- in other conditions related to excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid.
Nolpaza 40 mg with contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Nolpaza 40 mg is allergy to:
- any ingredient of the preparation,
- sorbitol,
- other drugs derived from benzimidazole.
Nolpaza 40 mg – dosage
Nolpaza 40 mg is in the form of gastro-resistant tablets and is intended for oral administration. Take the tablets 1 hour before a meal, swallowed whole (do not crush, chew or crush) with water. There are no clinical data on the use of the drug by children under 12 years of age, therefore it is not recommended to use the preparation in this group of patients. In patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, the dose should not exceed 20 mg a day. The drug should not be used for the eradication of H. pylori in patients with impaired renal function or moderate or severe hepatic impairment. No dosage adjustment is necessary in the elderly or in those with renal impairment.

Nolpaza 40 mg – side effects
Taking Nolpaza 40 mg may cause the following side effects:
- sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, flatulence, abdominal fullness, dry mouth, upper abdominal pain and discomfort, increased levels of liver enzymes, weakness, fatigue, malaise, allergic reactions ( itching, rash, eczema, eruptions),
- rarely or very rarely: haematological disorders (leukopenia, thrombocytopenia), hypersensitivity and anaphylactic reactions (including urticaria, angioedema, e.g. of the face, larynx, tongue, throat that may cause breathing difficulties, anaphylactic shock), increased lipid levels (triglycerides, cholesterol) , weight changes, depression, confusion, visual disturbance, blurred vision, increased bilirubin, joint pain, muscle pain, gynaecomastia, increased body temperature, peripheral edema,
- the following may occur: hyponatraemia, hallucinations, confusion, damage to liver cells leading to jaundice, sometimes with hepatic failure, interstitial nephritis, photosensitivity and severe skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme.
