Nizoral for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Use, recommended precautions

Nizoral is a drug used in dermatology, it has an antifungal effect. The preparation is used in the preventive and symptomatic treatment of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. The product is in the form of a cream and is available over the counter at the pharmacy.

Indications for the use of Nizoral

Nizoral cream is used in dermatophyte dermatophytosis, thrush of the trunk, legs, hands and feet, as well as tinea versicolor. Nizoral is applied topically to the skin once a day. The preparation is available without a prescription.

Contraindications to the use of Nizoral

Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation is a contraindication to the use of Nizoral.

Dosage

Nizoral is a cream and should be applied topically to the skin.

  1. seborrheic dermatitis: twice a day for 2-2 weeks, followed by maintenance treatment using the preparation 4-1 times a week.
  2. duration of treatment: Tinea versicolor and yeasts 2-3 weeks, tinea pedis 2-4 weeks, tinea pedis 3-4 weeks, athlete’s foot 4-6 weeks. The cream should not be applied to the eyes.

Nizoral – warnings

  1. Avoid contact of Nizoral with the eyes.
  2. In the case of previous local treatment with corticosteroids, it is recommended to use a weak corticosteroid in the morning, and this preparation in the evening, and to gradually withdraw from corticosteroid treatment (within 2-3 weeks).
  3. The preparation contains propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which may cause irritation and local skin reactions (including contact dermatitis).
  4. Before using Nizoral during pregnancy or breastfeeding, a doctor should be consulted; there are no data on the safety of the preparation in this period.
  5. There are no studies on the effects of the preparation on the ability to drive and use motor vehicles.
  6. Nizoral is for topical application to the skin only.

Nizoral – side effects

They can occur: local skin irritations (itching, redness), local allergic reactions.
