Galantamine contained in Nivalin is a selective, reversible inhibitor of acetylcholine esterase. This substance is designed to stimulate nicotinic receptors and increase the sensitivity of postsynaptic acetylcholine receptors.

The active substance of Nivalinu crosses the blood-brain barrier. Thanks to this, the preparation facilitates the conduction of stimuli in the CNS and intensifies the processes of stimulation. Nivalin increases the tension of smooth muscles, secretion of the gastrointestinal and sweat glands, and also causes the constriction of the pupils.

Nivalin – precautions

People with sinus node syndrome and other supraventricular heart conduction disturbances, as well as people taking preparations significantly slowing the heart rhythm and decompensated electrolyte disturbances should be especially careful.

The drug should also be used with caution in people with heart failure, urinary tract obstruction and after surgical excision of the prostate and bladder. It should not be used during surgery under general anesthesia.
