Nino Katamadze sang at the festival for the sake of a blind girl

The artist was going to fly home and cancel her performance at the Jazz Estate. But she could not break the child’s dreams.

“I have a surprise for you – the beautiful Arina Igolkina from Belarus. I will not say further: you must feel it yourself. ” With these words, Nino Katamadze brought nine-year-old Arina onto the stage.

“So small,” echoed through the crowd of spectators. And as soon as the girl started playing the piano, everyone immediately recognized the famous song “Suliko”.

To the accompaniment of Arina, not only Nino sang, but also hundreds of spectators who gathered on June 22 at the festival “Usadba Jazz”. No one could have imagined that the girl rehearsed with Nino for the first time just six hours before the performance. And the orchestra behind the girl could only hear, but not see: Arina lost her sight due to a brain tumor, which she was diagnosed with eight years ago, when the baby was only a year old. Despite her illness, she learned to play the piano. And after the second operation, the music helped the girl return to life.

“I promised Arina a long time ago to perform, and she has come a long way to get ready for the concert. Observing and experiencing the events that took place in my country, I was not going to perform at the festival, I wanted to fly home. But I could not deceive the expectations of the child. Before the performance, I was very worried, I didn’t want Arina to feel like some kind of star. I really wanted to create an intimate intimate atmosphere during the performance. Arina is very pure, she has such a heart, ”Nino said after the concert.

Everyone was worried before the performance: the staff of the Konstantin Khabensky Charitable Foundation, which helps the girl, and, of course, Arina’s mother. True, she spoke about it in a whisper: she did not want her daughter to hear her feelings.

To get to know Nino, her idol, live, was a real happiness for Arina. The girl listened to all her songs a hundred times, and when asked about her favorite song, she always answered: “I like everything if Nino sings it”. Arina could only dream of performing on the same stage with Nino.

“Having consulted with a music teacher, we decided that before her performance with Nino, Arina would learn Suliko, a composition that she especially likes. It took only two days of distance learning: according to Viber, the teacher told her how to play the song correctly, ”said Arina’s mother.

The girl could not see how many people listened to her performances, but she heard loud applause with which the audience saw her off. Arina said after her speech:

“I felt so good, joyful and fun on stage, I wanted to continue performing. And with the orchestra I would play and play: such an incredible sound is obtained. “
