Nine things a man should forget about if he wants a baby
Andrologist Andrei Lychagin, who is engaged in medical education of patients at TikTok, in response to the user’s question, told what habits a man should give up, who in the near future wants to become a father.
According to the doctor, the basic rule for early conception is a healthy lifestyle.
1. Frequent smoke breaks
Smoking, contrary to popular belief, has a detrimental effect not only on the respiratory system, but also on reproductive function. In particular, in men, frequent smoke breaks can slow down the speed of sperm movement and increase the number of sperm that are irregularly shaped, that is, unable to fertilize.
2. Beer on Fridays
Meetings with friends over a glass of beer will also have to be postponed. The fact is that alcohol destroys intact reproductive cells, that is, the sperm cell is left without a tail or without a head, which prevents it from fulfilling its main natural function – to get to the egg. The doctor considers drinking beer to be especially dangerous for reproduction.
3. Snacks at the Mac
Proper nutrition is the basis of vitality. It is from food that a person receives useful substances that contribute to the production of energy. Fast food, on the other hand, takes energy from a man, including masculine. Scientists have shown that carcinogens and fats contained in burgers and fries significantly reduce sperm motility. The diet should be balanced, with the presence of animal protein, seafood and meat, the doctor notes.
4. Evenings on the couch
It can be very difficult to give up idleness, but Japanese scientists have shown that men who play sports three times a week have higher fertility (the ability to conceive) than those who spend all evenings lying on the couch.
5. Baths and saunas
The bath, which is useful for the general physical condition, turns out to be the cause of infertility. The fact is that a high temperature leads to the death of spermatozoa and at the exit they are already incapacitated. In addition, you need to be careful when approaching heated car seats and hot baths, notes Andrey Lychagin.
6. Stress over trifles
Nerves at work, in a traffic jam or in a store, excessive impulsiveness and irascibility can also negatively affect the desire to become a parent. During stress, the male body disrupts the production of glucocorticoids – steroid hormones that affect metabolism and reduce the sensitivity of tissues to sex hormones.
7. Chronic lack of sleep
Sleep disturbances have a detrimental effect on the production of testosterone, a key hormone associated with sperm production. Sleep problems can lead to low sperm concentration, low sperm count and testosterone levels. The peak of the daily testosterone release occurs during sleep, so quality sleep is extremely important for a man’s reproductive health.
8. Refusal of vitamins
The rejection of vitamins can be detrimental to the reproductive system. Do not forget about trace elements. Your doctor will help you prescribe the right drugs and dosage.
9. Fear of doctors
Andrey Lychagin separately notes the need to check men’s health for the presence of severe lesions of spermatogenesis and various hormonal disorders. If such problems are found, the andrologist will prescribe an individual scheme for stimulating spermatogenesis.
