The fourth wave in Poland. What stage are we at?
When asked what stage the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is at, the head of the ministry of health replied that this was the acceleration stage, as the number of cases is still relatively low.
– In mid-September we had a moment of great acceleration, because the dynamics from week to week exceeded 50%. and this could indicate that we will have a repeat of the script from the previous year. But in the last week of September, we already have a slower growth – it is on the order of 20-25 percent. – He said.
As he noted, there is a clear divergence in the path of the increase in the number of infections from the previous year in September, compared to the path we see today. It is located slightly lower – he added.
According to Niedzielski, this is an effect of vaccinations. “Vaccinations just work, and you can see it when we consider that a year ago, the virus variant was much less infectious than the Delta mutation,” he told the paper.

Hard lockdown will return in Poland? The head of the Ministry of Health answers
When asked if there is a possible scenario that a hard lockdown will return, the head of the Ministry of Health replied that he cannot cancel any scenario. – The scenario that envisages the implementation of the most stringent measures is of course plausible, but I would now assess its probability on the verge of statistical error – he stressed.
Niedzielski was also asked about can we expect a third dose recommendation for all persons already vaccinated and what about those vaccinated with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson preparation. In response, the head of health pointed out that if the EMA makes such a decision that will expand the circle of people or simply allow the third dose universally, “we will of course give this opportunity to everyone who wants it” – he said.

As he explained, the third dose is a conventional word. This is a booster dose, not an extra dose. “And with the J&J vaccination, we have the same situation,” he added.
