When asked in Polsat News whether the lower level of vaccination of Ukrainian refugees may affect the level of the coronavirus epidemic in Poland, the Minister of Health said: “this level of vaccination is definitely lower – it is absolutely confirmed”.

«We can see, because we look at what is happening with COVID-19 in Poland, that these decreases in infections – and there have been very dynamic decreases in infections over the last 2-3 weeks, where these decreases were of the order of 30% from week to week. – that they slowed down »- he assessed. “I am talking primarily about the number of infections, because they have actually slowed down and now these drops are 3-5% week by week.” He explained.

“We also take into account that not the only reason (slowing down the decline in infections – PAP) is the inflow of possible infections from abroad, because I would like to remind you that, in principle, the kids have returned to school for two weeks, which, however, increases the possible risk of transmission” – said the minister health.

Niedzielski pointed out that in view of the slowing down of the decline in infections in Poland and the influx of refugees from Ukraine, “making decisions now concerning, for example, what to do with masks, must be slightly suspended”. “I think this mask, these basic principles that allow us to maintain or maintain this epidemic safety – we should apply,” he said. “I am an advocate that we should not take these masks off until the end of March” – he emphasized.

If you need a new mask, order a Cotton reusable protective mask with a filter. It protects against harmful viruses and at the same time ensures adequate air flow.

Niedzielski: the end of the pandemic state can happen quickly

The Minister of Health explained that “the end of the pandemic in Poland may come quickly”. “But we will maintain the state of pandemic threat in Poland for some time, because I would like to remind you that this is such a gradual process, and before there is a pandemic state, it is a state of pandemic threat” – he announced.

Niedzielski estimated that the state of the pandemic threat will be introduced «not earlier than in April.

“Probably the decisions that will concern masks, home isolation, quarantine (…) – these will probably be decisions that will be combined” – he said. “Indeed, this is how we think about it with the Prime Minister, so that April would be the period when we will make these decisions,” he explained.

“There is not much interest in vaccinations from people coming from abroad”

When asked if there is any system of incentives for refugees from Ukraine to vaccinate against COVID-19, Niedzielski said: “Here we have an approach analogous to that of Polish citizens”. «We will not differentiate anyone here,» he added.

Niedzielski admitted that there is not much interest in vaccinations against COVID-19 from people coming from abroad. “This is not a priority for everyone and there are refusals,” he explained.

The Minister of Health admitted that his talks with the European Commission concern two dimensions. “One is the (refugee – PAP) reallocation process, and the other is the search for (financial – PAP) funds” – he said. “We counted so much that every million refugees and providing them with health care means about PLN 200 million a month” – he assessed.

Niedzielski explained that the money allocated to the treatment of refugees from Ukraine will not come from the health insurance contributions of Poles. “These will be additional funds from the state budget and this is the decision of Prime Minister Morawiecki,” he stressed.

“But of course, if we are talking about European solidarity, it should also have such a dimension that these refugees, their medical care is co-financed” – he emphasized. And we will certainly talk about it all the time with our partners in the European Commission »- announced Adam Niedzielski.
