Officials also offer to make gifts to newborns from the state. As Izvestia writes, this is an initiative of the Ministry of Labor, set out in the plan of events for the Decade of Childhood. They are going to give diapers, rattles, sliders, nipples and other crumbs necessary in the first three months of life. An important caveat – most of the goods will be of domestic production.
“In most countries, the basket includes the baby’s first wardrobe from birth to six months, baby cosmetics, a soft toy, a feeding bottle, a pacifier and other things,” said Zalina Kornilova, press secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. “More than 80 countries around the world are implementing the so-called Baby Basket program – and their experience is very positive.”

On the one hand, Russian mothers are pleasantly surprised. It is clear that usually so much money is spent on a baby that any help pleases. On the other hand, they do not believe that everything will be so smooth. After all, the source of funding has not yet been approved. And it is planned that all expenses will be covered by regional budgets. But if you give gifts to everyone, without exception, this is colossal money. Where will they suddenly come from?
“Couldn’t regional benefits be canceled or reduced because of this?” – expectant mothers are worried.

They would give better certificates – for strollers, for cots. At least a 50 percent discount.
