Newborn child confused day with night: reasons, folk methods

If a child confuses day with night, this is a real test for parents. At night, they rock the baby, and in the morning you need to go to work or do household chores. This unpleasant situation can be corrected!

Why does a baby confuse day with night?

At night, pain in the baby’s tummy or teething may interfere with sleep. He will compensate for lack of sleep during the day. Also, there may be inappropriate sleeping conditions at night, for example, the bedroom is too stuffy. Another reason is uncomfortable night clothes or sleeping place. Baby is like a princess and a pea. Any lump on the mattress or uncomfortable seam on your pajamas can get in the way.

If the child confuses day with night, parents will not get enough sleep.

Your baby’s daily routine influences his behavior at night. Moms are glad if the baby sleeps for an extra hour during the day, but this can negatively affect his night’s sleep. Also, the cause of the problem may be low mobility during the day or nervous overexcitation before going to bed. You should not receive guests in the evenings or actively play with your child.

What to do to keep your newborn asleep

Here are some tips to fix the problem:

  • Reduce your nap time. Spend more time with your child during the day. Play with him, give him a wellness massage, turn on active children’s music. In the evening, replace the fun with reading and calm conversations.
  • The penultimate feeding should be loose. Let the baby stay a little hungry. After an hour, bathe it in warm water and feed it satisfyingly. A well-fed and contented baby will fall asleep quickly.
  • Ventilate the room before going to bed. Maintain the temperature in it around 22 ° C.
  • If you feel that the child has woken up, but did not start crying, do not rush to run to him. He will understand that they do not react to his awakening and will fall asleep again.

It is also important to exclude any lighting. Even a lantern outside the window can disturb sleep.

Traditional methods for normal sleep

Use aromatherapy. Any soothing oil, such as peppermint, will work for this. Add it in a minimal amount to a baby bath or aroma lamp. You can also put a sachet filled with aromatic herbs in your baby’s crib. You can give your child soothing natural teas, infusions, decoctions, but only after consulting a child’s doctor.

If you are unable to solve the problem on your own, check with your pediatrician. He will tell you how to act in this situation.
