It was established in Ciechocinek “Spa House” Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Diabetology and Metabolism Diseases. We are talking about the new Center with Dr. Jacek Chojnowski, MD, head of the facility.
Uzdrowisko Ciechocinek SA was established Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Diabetology and Metabolism Diseases. Please tell us where this decision came from?
Jacek Chojnowski, MD, PhD: Currently, we encounter the phrase “diseases of civilization” more and more often. They include, among others obesity and diabetes. Patients seeking professional help in the treatment of the aforementioned ailments come to the facilities of Uzdrowisko Ciechocinek SA every day. Hence the idea of creating a specialized center where their comprehensive and multi-directional treatment will be carried out in spa conditions.
What is the treatment of this type of patient?
JC: Our Center runs a comprehensive treatment program that includes both elements of pharmacological treatment and selected methods in the field of balneotherapy and physical therapy. At the same time, we treat chronic complications of diabetes in patients, and we implement a weight reduction program in obese people. We also conduct dietetic, physiotherapy and psychological workshops with our patients, so that the process of education takes place simultaneously with their treatment. As a result, people reporting to our Center obtain the highest standard of medical services.
There has been more and more talk about obesity and the need to fight it. Do many patients who require treatment in spa conditions come to you?
JC: It’s true, unfortunately obesity is already a disease of a civilization nature. Many patients come to us who, to put it simply, seek professional help from us. The treatment of these patients is based on two pillars: appropriate, individually tailored to the patient’s physical activity and a wholesome diet. An additional, very important element of treatment is psychological support.
In addition, the applied balneological treatments will improve the condition of the skin, reduce joint pain and muscle pain resulting from increased physical activity. The support of the doctor and other members of the treatment team will allow for the diagnosis of possible complications of obesity and the implementation of pharmacological treatment where necessary. Dietary, psychological and physical therapy classes conducted by our team extend the patient’s range of possibilities to improve health.
What, in your opinion, is the greatest asset of the newly created Center?
JC: Our greatest advantage is the extensive experience of the medical and physiotherapy staff, dieticians and all support staff. As a balneologist and diabetologist, I have been providing spa treatment for patients with diabetes, obesity and other chronic diseases for many years. Importantly, ours Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Diabetology and Metabolism Diseases provides treatment on the basis of a spa hospital, which guarantees patients safety and XNUMX-hour medical and nursing care.
So how is it possible to get such treatment?
JC: Just contact our reception. We will be happy to advise you and provide comprehensive information on the price and availability of treatment dates.
