New climate: humanity is waiting for change

The thermal equilibrium of nature is disturbed

Now the climate has warmed by an average of 1 degree, it seems that this is an insignificant figure, but locally temperature fluctuations reach tens of degrees, which leads to cataclysms. Nature is a system that seeks to maintain a balance of temperature, animal migration, sea currents and air currents, but under the influence of human activities, the balance is lost. Imagine such an example, a person, without looking at the thermometer, dressed very warmly, as a result, after twenty minutes of walking, he sweated and unzipped his jacket, took off his scarf. Planet Earth also sweats when a person, burning oil, coal and gas, heats it up. But she cannot take off her clothes, so evaporation falls in the form of unprecedented precipitation. You don’t have to look far for vivid examples, remember the flood and earthquake in Indonesia at the end of September and the October showers in the Kuban, Krasnodar, Tuapse and Sochi.

In general, in the industrial age, a person extracts a huge amount of oil, gas and coal, burning them, emits an enormous amount of greenhouse gases and heat. If people continue to use the same technologies, then the temperature will rise, which will eventually lead to radical climate change. Such that a person would call them catastrophic.

Solving the climate problem

The solution to the problem, as it is not surprising, again comes down to the will of ordinary people – only their active position can make the authorities think about it. In addition, the person himself, who is conscious of garbage disposal, is able to make a great contribution to solving the problem. Separate collection of organic and plastic waste alone will help reduce the human footprint through recycling and recycling of raw materials.

It is possible to prevent climate change by completely stopping the existing industry, but no one will go for it, so all that remains is to adapt to heavy rains, droughts, floods, unprecedented heat and unusual cold. In parallel with adaptation, it is necessary to develop CO2 absorption technologies, modernizing the entire industry to reduce emissions. Unfortunately, such technologies are in their infancy – only in the last fifty years, people began to think about climate problems. But even now, scientists are not doing enough research on the climate, because it does not have a vital necessity. Although climate change brings problems, it has not yet affected most people, the climate does not disturb daily, unlike financial or family worries.

Solving climate problems is very expensive, and no state is in a hurry to part with such money. For politicians, spending it on reducing CO2 emissions is like throwing a budget into the wind. Most likely, by 2030 the average temperature of the planet will rise by the notorious two or more degrees, and we will need to learn to live in a new climate, and the descendants will see a completely different picture of the world, they will be surprised, looking at photographs of a hundred years ago, not recognizing the usual places. For example, in some deserts, snow will not be so rare, and in places that were once famous for snowy winters, there will be only a few weeks of good snow, and the rest of the winter will be wet and rainy.

United Nations Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement of the UN Convention on Climate Change, created in 2016, is designed to regulate climate change, and 192 countries have signed it. It calls to prevent the average temperature of the planet from rising above 1,5 degrees. But its content allows each country to decide for itself what to do in order to counter climate change, there are no coercive measures or reprimands for non-compliance with the agreement, there is not even a question of coordinated work. As a result, it has a formal, even optional look. With this content of the agreement, developing countries will suffer the most from warming, and island states will have a particularly hard time. Developed countries will endure climate change at great financial cost, but will survive. But in developing countries, the economy may collapse, and they will become dependent on world powers. For island states, a rise in water with a two-degree warming threatens with large financial costs necessary for the restoration of flooded territories, and now, according to scientists, a rise by a degree has already been recorded.

In Bangladesh, for example, 10 million people would be at risk of flooding their homes if the climate warmed by two degrees by 2030. In the world, already now, due to warming, 18 million people are forced to change their place of residence, because their homes were destroyed.

Only joint work is able to contain climate warming, but it is most likely that it will not be possible to organize it due to fragmentation. For example, the United States and a number of other countries refuse to spend money on curbing climate warming. Developing countries do not have the money to develop eco-technologies to reduce CO2 emissions. The situation is complicated by political intrigues, speculation and intimidation of people through devastating materials in the media in order to get money to build systems to protect against the effects of climate change.

What will Russia be like in the new climate

67% of the territory of Russia is occupied by permafrost, it will melt from warming, which means that various buildings, roads, pipelines will have to be rebuilt. In parts of the territories, winters will become warmer and summers will be longer, which will give rise to the problem of forest fires and floods. Residents of Moscow may have noticed how every summer is getting longer and warmer, and now it’s November and uncharacteristically warm days. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has been fighting fires every summer, including in the nearest regions from the capital, and floods in the southern territories. For example, one can recall the floods on the Amur River in 2013, which have not happened in the past 100 years, or the fires around Moscow in 2010, when the entire capital was in smoke. And these are just two striking examples, and there are many more.

Russia will suffer due to climate change, the country will have to spend a decent amount of money to eliminate the consequences of disasters.

Afterword

Warming is the result of people’s consumer attitude towards the planet on which we live. Climate change and abnormally strong weather events can force humanity to reconsider their views. The planet tells man that it’s time to stop being the king of nature, and again become her brainchild.
