New armchair style: cactus

The author of the “prickly” chair – young designer Valentina Glez Wohlers told us about her origins in such an unusual way. After all, despite the fact that at the moment Valentina lives in London, she comes from sunny Mexico.

What else can become a recognizable symbol of this Latin American country if not a cactus! The idea of ”crossing” classic forms with Mexican flavor turned out to be not only viable, but also life-affirming. The baroque armchair on curly legs has very harmoniously grown together with its desert prototype: the oval back has got little “children”, and the green upholstery – “spines” – hairs. Even classic round button stitching capitone, and she plays on the image. And the crimson color of the plastic frame adds Mexican “spice” to this vegetable and furniture creation.

The Prickly chair can be seen by visitors to the annual i Saloni, which will be held April 22-27 in Milan, but whether anyone wants to sit on it remains a mystery.
