The latest research suggests that this can boost your child’s immunity against allergies.
The best products for the first feeding – here any mother will roll out a list for you, where vegetables will come first, then cottage cheese, later meat, and then you can carefully experiment with fish and other food variety. Therefore, the statement of American health experts that peanuts (the most allergenic nuts!), Fish and eggs should be introduced to children as early as four months, sounds like complete nonsense.
The new relaxed and – frankly – sensational recommendations, published this week, are the result of 20 years of work by American pediatricians and allergists.
But back in 2000, doctors advised not even cow’s milk to be added to complementary foods until the child was one year old. And never enter at all if the baby is lactose intolerant. Recall that eggs were advised to be given only a year, fish and nuts – after three. All in order to prevent potentially fatal allergic reactions.
And now, after 19 years, experts have come to a completely opposite conclusion: the sooner you start giving these products to children, the better. More and more studies show that early exposure to potential allergens will reduce the likelihood of reactions in children and prospective adults to these very nuts, eggs and fish. Such conclusions of scientists are cited by the British
Is it really worth revising all the nutritional rules for babies? Or is what suits American children completely unacceptable for ours? For an explanation, the Wday.ru correspondent turned to a domestic specialist.
Doctor Vladimir Bolibok, allergist-immunologist:
– Most likely, the Americans are right, and here’s why. When a child is born, he receives a huge amount of protective antibodies from the mother through the placenta, including those that protect him from food allergies. But they are not stored forever, therefore, if you introduce some products from 9 months, then the child will have to develop antibodies on them again – and already on their own. That is, the statement of the Americans is true when the mother herself is not allergic to the listed products. It is important to know that food tolerance is not inherent in us from birth: we need to adapt to all products. The only thing that we are able to digest right from birth is mother’s milk. Further, you need to introduce other food to it, but in small doses and carefully. Nuts themselves are hard to digest. What to do with them – crush and stir in milk? Therefore, one must think not only about what is, but also how it is.
