Neurological and mental illnesses are nothing to be ashamed of. In Poland, it is still a taboo subject

Neurological and mental diseases, often related to our relatives – family, colleagues or neighbors, are still a taboo subject in Poland, and patients arouse fear and aversion in society. Let’s overcome fear and prejudices, because any of us can get sick, regardless of age, gender or social status. Dear sick people! Don’t lock yourself in four walls.

«The aim of the campaign ‘Overcome anxiety – neurological and mental diseases’ is to educate readers about neurological and mental diseases – causes, diagnosis and treatment options. We want to pay special attention to the subject of access to innovative treatment methods in Poland. We take up the issue of daily sacrifices and problems that patients face. We would also like to point out that these diseases are not a reason to be ashamed, and early diagnosis more and more often enables the patient to function normally. » Warsaw Press.

The campaign opens with a statement by Professor Jarosław Sławek, President of the Polish Neurological Society, on the challenges of modern neurology and Poles’ awareness in the context of brain diseases.
