The properties of nettle in medicine have been known among people who have been interested in natural medicine for centuries. However, nowadays, nettle is more commonly used if only because nettle tea can be bought at any grocery store. However, it is worth knowing all its properties and contraindications.
First of all, nettle contains various vitamins, macronutrients and minerals, so it can be helpful in treating various ailments or controlling disease symptoms. Nettle can be used, among other things, to reduce allergy symptoms, lower cholesterol, urea levels or reduce inflammation. It can also relieve pain, dilate blood vessels, stop hair loss or lower blood pressure. Nettle has diuretic properties, so people with kidney stones or urinary tract diseases should use it.
It is perfect for treating wounds and skin diseases, including acne or bacterial acne, because nettle will not only support skin regeneration and healing, but also reduce inflammation and cleanse it.
Nettle can also be simply a healthy dietary supplement, because it contains, among others: magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, iodine, potassium and vitamins A, K, B2, C. It also contains acids (formic, glycolic and glycerol) and other substances such as chlorophyll, histamine, phytosterols and flavonoids.

Contraindications to the use of nettle are any form of allergy to this plant. Unfortunately, quite a lot of people react badly to nettle burns and tea from dried nettle leaves, so it is worth checking the possibility of including this plant in your diet or as a compress on the affected areas on the skin by an allergy test.
Also, women who have diseases of the reproductive organs, such as cancer, fibroids, heavy bleeding, cannot drink nettle in any form. It is not forbidden to drink nettle during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but it should be consulted with a doctor.
People suffering from chronic kidney disease or diabetes, unfortunately, cannot enjoy the benefits of nettle. Nettle interacts with medications for diabetes. It is also worth checking the iron level in the body, because nettle cannot be consumed by people who have too high iron levels.

Nettle has a reputation for being a remedy that works for everything. Drinking 2/3 cup of nettle juice or tea daily between meals helps with immunity. Nettle also has a good record of treating anemia as it raises iron levels by increasing the production of red blood cells. In the case of external use, you can wash the skin with nettle infusion several times a day until the symptoms disappear.
