One of the most expensive and useful essential oils is neroli oil. It has long been believed that its scent attracts good luck, helps to achieve success in love and promotes personal development.
Neroli oil: types and method of obtaining
Neroli essential oil is obtained by steam distillation, it is the steam distillation of orange blossom flowers. The oil yields are very small, only 800 ml of neroli aromatic oil is obtained from a ton of flowers.
By its consistency, it is a light, flowing, pale yellow or colorless liquid. The oil has a rich, bitter scent of orange flowers. Over time, the color of the oil darkens, while the quality remains the same.
The bitter orange tree belongs to the Rutaceae family and grows mainly in Southern Europe and America.
There are three types of neroli oil, depending on the feedstock:
- neroli-bigarade is the most valuable grade of neroli oil, for its production they use the petals of the bitter Seville orange
- Portuguese neroli, which is produced from the petals of sweet orange flowers
- neroli or the classic essential oil of neroli, which is produced from mandarin and lemon flowers
The beneficial properties and uses of neroli oil
Neroli essential oil has a number of useful properties: antiviral, tonic, anticonvulsant and antispasmodic. It regulates the digestive system, is a mild diuretic and decongestant, and promotes recovery from illness and injury.
This oil is widely used in cardiology, as it has an anti-sclerotic direction, potentiating the coronary blood flow, which helps to improve the functioning of the heart muscle.

In gynecology, neroli essential oil is used in the treatment of menstrual irregularities. In addition, it is considered a powerful sexual stimulant and helps fight frigidity and impotence.
The aroma of neroli oil is the most important component in the composition of elite perfumery. Culinary experts use this oil to add aroma to liqueurs and fine drinks.
Even the ancient Romans made scented water from orange blossom flowers to flavor indoor air.
Neroli essential oil occupies a special place in cosmetology. It has a rejuvenating effect on the skin, smoothes wrinkles, relieves swelling and eliminates peeling and irritation. Also, neroli oil helps to restore the structure and elasticity of the hair.
He has practically no contraindications for use, the exception is individual intolerance.
