- bronchial asthma – in patients for whom it is not possible to use a pressurized metered dose inhaler or a powder inhaler
- acute laryngitis (so-called pseudo-croup) – in infants and children.
Nebubud – dosage
Use Nebbud as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage depends on the disease and its severity.
Dosage in bronchial asthma
- Children from 6 months of age – the initial dose should be 0,25-0,5 mg per day; maintenance dose 0,25-2 mg daily.
- Adults and adolescents after 12 years of age – the starting dose should be 1-2 mg per day, the maintenance dose is 0,5-4,0 mg per day.
In case of severe symptoms, the doctor may decide to increase the dose.
Do not increase the recommended dose – it does not bring any therapeutic effects, and can only be harmful to your health.
Dosage in acute laryngitis
Babies and children should take 2 mg once or in two divided doses of 1 mg – given approximately 30 minutes apart.
Nebbud – contraindications to use
Patients who are hypersensitive to any component of the preparation should not use the drug, even if there are indications for its use. The drug should not be given to people who have attacks of breathlessness. The therapeutic effect of the preparation should occur within 24 hours of starting treatment.
Nebbud – side effects
Taking Nebbud, like many other medications, can cause side effects. However, they do not occur in all people using the medicine. The most common side effects are hoarseness, cough, throat irritation and oral candidiasis. However, in the case of the latter ailments, it is possible to reduce its symptoms by rinsing the mouth with water after inhalation.
Other, although less common side effects are also: rash, itching, contact dermatitis, angioedema and urticaria. In addition to these, severe anaphylactic reactions can also occur. Angioedema of the tongue, throat and larynx resulting in difficulty in breathing has been reported in patients taking Nebbud.
Sleep disorders, problems with aggression, anxiety and increased psychomotor activity have also been reported among patients using the drug. The very use of the nebuliser may also pose a risk to the skin. As Nebbud is an inhaled drug, it may irritate the respiratory system, cause coughing and cause dry mouth. When the use of the preparation causes side effects, e.g. paradoxical bronchospasm, it should be immediately abandoned.
Nebbud – warnings
When it comes to Nebbud, the leaflet provides several important cautions.
- Contact your doctor if you have been diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, fungal or viral infection of the respiratory tract, severe liver dysfunction.
- For an acute attack of breathlessness, a rapid onset bronchodilator should be used.
- Using an inhaled corticosteroid may increase the risk of developing a fungal infection in the mouth, so after nebulization, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and brush your teeth.
- The preparation is intended only for inhalation use.
- The drug can not be used orally and intravenously.
Nebbud – interactions with other drugs
To avoid any problems related to this, please inform your doctor about any other over-the-counter or prescription drugs you are taking recently. The physician should know what the patient has taken with systemic corticosteroids before. Thanks to this, the patient will avoid the risk of adrenal gland dysfunction. It is also worth knowing that:
- nebulisations may require a reduction in the dose of oral corticosteroids;
- ritonavir and other drugs that inhibit the activity of the cytochrome P3 enzyme 4A450 (e.g. nelfinavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole) may be responsible for a significant increase in the concentration of the active substance in the blood plasma;
- the effect of corticosteroids may be increased in women taking oestrogens – also in the form of oral contraceptive pills.
Nebbud and pregnancy
Pregnant women should not take the drug without consulting a doctor first. Both during pregnancy and breastfeeding, a specialist should be consulted before taking any medication. However, pregnant women only use this preparation when the doctor considers it necessary and the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
