And if some spend all the time in fitness rooms, others run to a plastic surgeon to correct one of their body parts. Sometimes it comes to the point of absurdity. One of the latest surgeries that is gaining popularity is navel plasty. And doctors call this phenomenon “sad navel”.
Why are they doing this?
The main reason is genetics. Alas, not all girls from nature got a beautiful navel shape, for many it is too small or, on the contrary, bulges out strongly. A few more options to decide on a change are a failed piercing, abdominal surgery, or the consequences after significant weight loss.
“Aesthetics play an important role in navel plastics, because this part of the body is visible outside the area of underwear or a swimsuit. He can be seen both on the beach and in the gym locker room. It is not uncommon that the navel is deformed after pregnancy, and it is not it alone that changes, but together with the entire anterior abdominal wall, ”explains Georgy Chemyanov.
The requirements for a perfect navel were recently put forward by Singaporean scientists. In honor of this, they even conducted research and found that the navel is considered ideal if it is oval, horizontal, symmetrically extended, and also has no folds around it. In addition, the skin in this area should be firm and firm.

“It is possible to correct the shape of the navel only with the help of surgical intervention. There are several types of operations that solve different problems, ”says the doctor.

Or, in a simple way, belly button plastic. Plastic surgeons note that it is quite easy to fix a belly button that is too large – only part of the excess skin is removed. At the same time, you can also tighten the bordering skin around the navel.
But with the correction of a belly button that is too small, things are more complicated. To do this, the doctor removes some of the skin near the abdomen and then gently stretches the tissue around the navel. It is not uncommon for girls to have bleeding after surgery, as well as the appearance of scars.
Getting rid of an umbilical hernia
“One of the problems that patients can deal with is an umbilical hernia. It can occur, for example, after a previous pregnancy. Then such an operation is not only aesthetic in nature, but also allows you to eliminate the defect of the anterior wall, hernial protrusion, ”says Dr. Chemyanov.
An umbilical hernia is a condition in which tissue, usually fatty, protrudes through a small opening in the abdominal wall (made up of connective tissue and six-component muscles), causing the navel to bulge outward and become very visible.
The operation prevents the small intestine from being pushed out of the abdominal cavity and corrects this defect.
Abdominoplasty
“More often we carry out navel correction together with more complex surgeries, for example, with abdominoplasty,” says Georgy. “The rectus abdominis muscles are sutured, the abdominal skin is tightened, liposuction is performed and a new umbilical ring is formed.”
After such an operation, for about six weeks, you can not lift anything heavy, as well as play sports.
