- Where to buy Natura Siberica cosmetics
Natura Siberica is a young, but already popular Russian brand of cosmetics, body and hair care products. The trademark and the company is officially a subsidiary of the First Solution company. The company specializes in the production of natural organic cosmetics from ingredients obtained from unique Siberian plants.
The history of the emergence and development of the brand
The company “First Solution” grew in the late 90s, in fact, from the handicraft production of cheap dishwashing liquid. The owner of the future elite trademark Andrey Vadimovich Trubnikov, like the majority of the population of the Russian Federation, experienced the crisis of the “nineties”. Literally with the money left from the previous company, he, together with two partners, set up a semi-handicraft production of the budget dishwashing detergent “Sorceress”.
Gradually, the company grew and strengthened, and the Russian Field shampoo was released. By 2002, already without business partners, Trubnikov registers his first significant business project – Grandmother Agafya’s Recipes, and the First Solution enterprise appears. The “grandma” brand quickly became popular, as the owner and his advertising team worked hard to develop it. However, it is difficult to deceive the consumer during long-term use, and the product has found its fans also because of the atypical price ratio of the “mass market” level with the quality of the level of companies like L`Oreal and Schwartzkopf & Henkel.
It was in the process of developing “Grandma Agafya’s Recipes” that the owner of the brand came to the conclusion that he wanted to produce natural cosmetics according to the recipes of Siberian healers and healers.
By 2008, the idea had finally taken shape as a subsidiary of Natura Siberica. Since its inception, the brand has literally made a splash, not only in the Russian market, but also at the global level. Even the iconic British edition of the Times named this brand as one of the top five organic shampoos in the world.
The company continues its growth and development – in 2013, the construction of the first organic farm in Russia for growing rare varieties of Siberian plants began. As of 2018, there are four such farms. The number of production capacities is increasing, and almost every month a new brand store opens in the world.

Production secrets: how products are made
Natura Siberica is, in a way, an exclusive type of business. Initially, the owner of the brand set himself the task of maximizing the use of all possible natural and natural components from Siberia, and to this day the brand remains one of the leading manufacturers of natural organic cosmetics. The company’s production facilities are mainly concentrated in Russia, including 4 plants operating in the Moscow region. In 2016, a factory was opened in Estonia. The owner of the company plans to cover the territory of Western Europe with production.
It was Natura Siberica who was the first in Russia to independently produce water and oil extracts of wild plants from the Far East and Siberia. The company uses cedar oil derivatives as the basis for all cosmetics.
The collection of wild berries and herbs for extracts is managed by a subsidiary of Siberia Organic, which is based in the Republic of Khakassia. The company cooperates with local residents, providing them with seasonal earnings for hand-picking the necessary plants. It is thanks to the manual collection of herbs and berries that it is possible to obtain funds that are as saturated as possible with vitamins and nutrients of absolutely natural origin.
In fact, all the raw materials involved in the development of products are a group of imported components for the base, purchased in Germany or Italy, and Russian extracts from plants grown on their own farms or in the wild in Siberia. It is the Siberian region for Natura Siberica that is the main source of all useful and healing extracts from plants. Wild plants collected in the natural conditions of their growth are especially valued. The collection of wild plants is carried out without the use of automated technologies.
The main advantage of such plants is that they do not go through the processes of fertilization and cultivation, as when sowing on an industrial scale, respectively, they do not contain foreign and harmful chemical impurities. Plants grown in the conditions of Siberia are the most viable, strong and rich in useful components of the unit.
The so-called “wild collection” cannot be carried out randomly – in this case, herbs and berries will lose their healing power. Collection usually takes place at a time when the greatest amount of biologically active substances and nutrients accumulate in plants, and for different plants this period falls at different times of the year. Only local residents, who have been dealing with the need to use Siberia’s plant “storeroom” for decades, know exactly how and when to collect plants, so they are offered the job of collecting and consulting Natura Siberica specialists.
In addition, certain rules must be observed for the rotation of the collection, for example, it is impossible to “clean up” the same places every year. Grass and leaves in the same area can be collected in a year, rhizomes and roots – every 2-3 years. Some plants are allowed to be collected only after 5-7 years, so that they have time to restore the lost stocks in their natural habitat.
Raw materials obtained as a result of manual collection must be sent for processing (drying, freezing) as soon as possible. If a plant has lain in a basket for 3-4 hours, it already loses half of its useful properties due to caking and wilting.
The Natura Siberica brand owns four organic farms within the territory of the Russian Federation, designed to grow natural raw materials for production. One of them is a farm on the island of Kunashir, located in the Sea of Okhotsk. The island is a protected land where hot mineral springs and ice lakes are adjacent to volcanoes. The farm is located near the village of Dubove. The first landings began in 2017. Kuril cherries are cultivated here, as well as Iinum strawberries – powerful antioxidants and storehouses of vitamin C, growing only in Japan and Russia. It is also planned to cultivate Japanese velvet, Hokkai skerda, Nakai goose onion, Sikhote-Alin bent grass, Kuril willow and Kuril bamboo. The collection takes place, among other things, thanks to the participation of local residents.
Another farm is located in a unique mountainous area – in Kamchatka. The territory is characterized by a harsh climate, unique landscape, richness of wild flora and fauna. In this area there are lands that are practically untouched by man, retaining their biological diversity.
The farm has an area of about 9 hectares, located near the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Was founded in 2016.
It is no coincidence that the Natura Siberica farm is located on Sakhalin Island – this island is the largest in Russia, and has rich natural treasures. The forest of the Eurasian coniferous-forest type prevails on the territory. A large number of Sakhalin firs grow here. The company’s farm is located in the Anivsky district, not far from the Zolotorybny tract, and occupies 7,5 hectares of area.
The first organic farm in Russia was founded in Khakassia, in the Altai region, near the village of Kirovo. Rare Siberian plants are grown here, cultivated in conditions that are as close to natural as possible. The farm area is 33 hectares.
Quality control and certification issues
For such a large and popular brand as Natura Siberica, which also owns organic farms and works with wild plants, the aspect of product quality control and guarantee is very important.
All products manufactured by the brand go through a full cycle at specific factories – from creating the product itself according to the developed formula to packaging the finished product and sending it for sale. However, product quality and safety checks begin even before the next conveyor starts at the factory or plant. First of all, checks and tests apply to raw materials prepared for production. As you know, the company buys part of the raw materials abroad, so it must pass dermatological, radiological and toxicological control, as well as quality checks. All natural products supplied from the company’s farms and nature reserves are also tested – experts pay attention to their freshness, the presence of active beneficial ingredients, as well as compliance with the rules of collection and preparation.
In the future, finished products are tested to obtain data on their effectiveness, formula stability, skin safety. Dermatologists, cosmetologists, ophthalmologists check products and the reaction of the human body to them. A mandatory check point is hypoallergenicity.
It should be noted that packaging for products is also produced at Natura Siberica factories, and is subject to control for the absence of toxic and poisonous properties.
On the packaging of the company’s products there is the Active Organics label – this means that the products released meet all current environmental requirements. According to its recipe, as well as production technologies, the brand’s products are at the level of premium class cosmetics.
In addition to internal control in our own laboratories, production is subject to the control of the Institute for Ethical Certification (ICEA). Many of the wild plants used by the brand are certified by this Institute, indicating their safe organic origin – these are Rhodiola rosea, Siberian geranium, snow cladonia, Siberian evening, Asian yarrow.
The farm in Khakassia is certified by the European biological standard EU 834/07.
In addition, cosmetics produced by the Natura Siberica brand have a number of major global quality certificates:
- Soil Association certificate;
- certificate of the German association BDIH;
- COSMOS Standard certificate;
- certificate of the French organization Ecocert (the only cosmetics brand in Russia that received this mark).
These quality certificates put forward high and strict requirements for certified cosmetics. For example, Ecocert-certified products prohibit the use of:
- artificial colors and fragrances;
- synthetic preservatives;
- propylene glycol;
- derivatives of petroleum products;
- sodium lauryl sulfate;
- raw materials of animal origin;
- genetically modified components.
Manufacturers who have received a French certificate carry out all technological processes without harming the environment, do not test their products on animals, use special packaging suitable for recycling and reuse.
COSMOS Standard is a combination of all requirements and standards for cosmetic products:
- for organic cosmetics – the requirement for the presence of at least 95% natural ingredients in the composition, less than 5% synthetic elements;
- from 95% of plant components must be of organic origin;
- for indelible products – at least 20% of the weight of the product must be organic components;
- for flushable goods – at least 10% of the total mass of organic components.
ICEA certification also implies strict requirements for cosmetics:
- the absence of prohibited substances in the composition;
- absence of genetically modified products;
- ban on animal testing;
- lack of alcohol;
- availability of biodegradable packaging, and some others.

First of all, all the work of the brand is aimed at studying the natural diversity of Siberia. The brand conducts ongoing research and testing to identify and develop the most valuable natural ingredients from wild and cultivated plants in the region. In addition to opening production facilities and laboratories, Natura Siberica also took care of the creation of 4 organic farms, where local residents, as well as biologists, grow and cultivate valuable plant varieties.
The brand owns its own chain of stores, which sells only the Natura Siberica brand, has opened several spa salons, and also plans to create spa areas in some hotels in Moscow.
In addition to scientific activities, advertising and sales, Natura Siberica, represented by its leaders, takes an active part in activities aimed at protecting and preserving the natural environment, primarily in the Siberian region. Thus, the company provides financial support to the state nature reserve Ubsunurskaya hollow, which is located in the Altai-Sayan region – 5% of the cost of each product sold is transferred to the reserve.
The company also cooperates with The European Nature Trust, whose activities are aimed at the protection of biological diversity, its conservation and restoration in the wilderness of Europe.
Natura Siberica is a charitable partner of the Konstantin Khabensky Foundation and periodically takes part in various charitable events as a sponsor.
Together with the Irkutsk Botanical Garden, the brand launched a program to protect and distribute wild and rare Siberian plants. As part of the program, Siberian irises, bearberry, arctic rose, polar violet, Kamchatka snowdrops are planted in the botanical garden, as well as in natural habitats. In general, the company has been providing assistance to the Irkutsk Botanical Garden since 2007.

In 2011, the brand took part in the already traditional Russian grass ball, during which it was possible to raise more than 2 million rubles for the implementation of the “Reserves and National Parks” program.
