Natrium Chloratum is also known as an infusion solution. Sodium is an essential mineral responsible for water management in the human body, as it regulates the work of the heart, nervous system and muscles. It contributes to the better work of digestive enzymes in the digestive tract, balances the composition of gastric juice and saliva. In combination with chlorine, sodium maintains the proper functioning of body fluids. What are the indications for the use of Natrium Chloratum? When should you reach for it?
Natrium Chloratum – indications
Natrium Chloratum is used in parenteral fluid and electrolyte replenishment and in the dilution of electrolyte concentrates and drugs. It is also often administered as a solution in a surgical procedure. Natrium Chloratum can also be used as a liquid for moisturizing and cleansing the eyes, nose and ears, as well as washing wounds. Natrium Chloratum helps to maintain the correct level of plasma and extracellular fluid.
Natrium Chloratum – composition
1000 ml of the solution contains 9 g of sodium chloride – Natrium Chloratum. The solution should be stored at a temperature of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. What dose should I use when using Natrium Chloratum?
Natrium Chloratum – dosage
Natrium Chloratium is used for parenteral fluid replacement and electrolytes – sodium and chloride. It is administered in a dilute solution. It is used in both surgical procedures and tests of dialysis equipment.
The dosage and frequency of taking Natrium Chloratum is determined by the doctor. The drug is usually administered intravenously. On average, an adult uses from 0,5 to 3 liters of solution. In the state of acute sodium deficiency in the body, a more concentrated solution can be administered. However, there are situations where you should not be particularly careful.
Natrium Chloratum – contraindications and side effects
There are no contraindications to the use of the solution in pregnant and lactating women.
Particular caution should be exercised in cases of hypernatraemia; hypokalemia; hyperchloraemia; acidosis; conditions requiring sodium restriction (e.g. heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia, severe renal failure). In premature babies and newborns, the use of the solution should only be repeated after prior determination of serum sodium.
Natrium Chloratum – interactions with other drugs
Before administering Natrium Chloratum, the compatibility of the drugs with the solution should be checked. Especially with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, carbenoxolyn, corticosteroids. Incorrect determination of the interaction of Natrium Chloratum with other drugs creates a risk of its occurrence hypernatremia. Long-term use of the solution should be monitored.
