Nasonex is a drug used in allergology and otolaryngology to treat rhinitis. The preparation affects the respiratory system, has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. Nasonex is available as an aerosol and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Indications for the use of the drug Nasonex
- symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and children over 3 years of age;
- nasal polyps in adults after 18 years of age;
- symptomatic of acute rhinitis and sinusitis in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
Dosage of Nasonex
- Adults and adolescents after the age of 12: the usual dose is 2 doses in each nostril once a day (total daily dose 1 µg). Once symptoms are controlled, one dose in each nostril once a day (total daily dose 200 µg) can be used for maintenance treatment. If the improvement is insufficient, the doctor may recommend increasing the dose to the maximum daily dose, ie 1 doses in each nostril once a day (total daily dose 1 µg). If your symptoms are well controlled, your doctor may recommend a dose reduction. Always aim for the lowest dose that provides effective symptom control.
- Children 3-11. years of age: the usual dose is 1 dose in each nostril once a day (total daily dose 1 µg).
- Adults and adolescents after the age of 12: the usual dose is 2 doses in each nostril twice a day (total daily dose 2 µg) for 400-14 days.
- Adults after 18 years of age: the usual initial dose is 2 doses in each nostril once a day (total daily dose 1 µg). If no improvement occurs after 200-5 weeks of using the preparation, the doctor may recommend increasing the dose to 6 doses in each nostril twice a day (total daily dose 2 µg). When you feel better, your doctor will advise you to reduce the dose, and if there is no improvement, he or she will prescribe a different treatment.
Nasonex and contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or other corticosteroids.
- Do not use in the case of untreated local infections of the nasal mucosa.
- It should not be used in people who have had recent nose surgery or nose injuries until the wounds have healed (corticosteroids inhibit the wound healing process).
