Nasivin are nasal drops that are used in the case of acute rhinitis (infectious nature) or allergic rhinitis (chronic nature). Rhinitis is popularly called a runny nose. During a runny nose, inflammation of the nasal mucosa occurs, making it difficult to breathe or suck food. Nasivin drops are also intended for children and babies.
Nasivin – action
Nasivin should be used during the treatment of sinusitis, otitis media or Eustachian tube inflammation. Nasivin drops facilitate breathing and constrict blood vessels. Thanks to the use of the drug, bacterial infections can be cured faster. The effect of using Nasivin appears shortly after the preparation is administered and lasts for about 6–8 hours.
Nasivin – indications
The indication for the use of Nasivin is:
- acute, vasomotor or allergic rhinitis;
- sinusitis;
- Eustachian tube inflammation;
- otitis media.

Nasivin – dosage
Nasivin drops should not be used for more than 5 daysas long-term use may lead to overdosing. The consequence may be a reduction in the effect of the drug and even the disappearance of the mucosa. Therefore, the following dosage is recommended:
- infants – 4-12 months: 2-3 times a day / one or two doses of 0,01 percent aerosol in each nostril,
- children aged 2-6 years: 2-3 times a day / one spray dose with a concentration of 0,025 percent in each nostril,
- adults and children over 6 years of age: 2-3 times a day / one or two doses of 0,05 percent aerosol in each nostril.

The drug should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored out of the sight of children, at room temperature.

Nasivin – side effects
Side effects such as dry mucosa and burning sensation may occur when using Nasivin. Additionally, sneezing may also occur in sensitive individuals. Much less frequent symptoms include increased heart rate, headache, palpitations, fatigue, insomnia, increased blood pressure or allergic reactions such as rash or itching.
Overdose of Nasivinu it can damage the nasal mucosa. There is no correlation between the use of the drug and the ability to drive vehicles or other activities related to the operation of other devices or machines.
During pregnancy, consult your doctor and seek his opinion before using Nasivin.
Nasivin – precautions
There is an interaction with drugs for depression. The use of Nasivin with preparations such as MAO inhibitors of the tranylcypromine type and tricyclic antidepressants may lead to an increase in blood pressure.
If you suffer from various diseases and ailments, be sure to inform your doctor before using the drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have problems with high blood pressure, are taking antidepressants, suffer from heart disease, diabetes, overactive thyroid gland or are allergic to any substance in the drug.
People should exercise particular caution:
- with cardiovascular diseases, incl. arterial hypertension, angina pectoris;
- with metabolic disorders, incl. diabetes, hyperthyroidism;
- with an enlarged prostate gland;
- with glaucoma.
In addition, Nasivin should not be used during pregnancy, and you should consult your doctor beforehand while breastfeeding. If the preparation is used for a long time or in too high doses, side effects may occur from the side of the circulatory system and the central nervous system. These effects may affect the ability to drive and use machines.
