PSYchology

It’s impossible to predict everything. It is much more important to know how to minimize losses in case of undesirable changes. This is what the book is about.

Nassim Nicholas Taleb, an American of Lebanese origin, became famous throughout the world for his book about the «Black Swans» — events that cannot be predicted. And about the fragility of the world, which again and again turns out to be defenseless in the face of unpredictable events. In his new book, Taleb has not become softer, he still does not believe in the possibility of calculating everything and protecting himself from everything, and contemptuously calls those who think otherwise nothing more than “suckers”. However, he opposes the general fragility to them with his own invented «antifragility» and is looking for ways to acquire it. Do not think that you have another textbook for a happy and successful life. Antifragility is a serious book, and it does not promise immediate bright prospects. Explaining, for example, that reducing losses is more important than increasing acquisitions, and the ability to succeed is always preceded by the ability to simply survive. One can agree with Taleb’s conclusions, or one can argue, but in any case this does not make the book less important and interesting. And it will be possible to judge its practical value as the next «black swans» invade: our life today is too generous for their visits. And this is another reason to read Antifragile.
