Today, the health ministry informed about 595 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland. – At the present stage of the epidemic, most of those infected with COVID-19 have no symptoms or they are weak – said spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz.

Coronavirus in Poland. Current situation

The spokesman, commenting on the latest data on detected COVID-19 cases, noted that on Wednesday the daily record of people who recovered was 835. There are 47 people in total since the epidemic began. 865 cured patients. He added that 18,5 thousand are ill. people, with nearly 2 of them staying in hospitals. The number of patients in a serious condition (on ventilators) ranges from 200 to 70 people.

He stressed that this means that about 16,5 thousand people get sick at homeand the course of the disease is asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic.

– So we can see that we have a stage of the epidemic in which quite a lot of people in Poland, if they are already ill, suffer from asymptomatic or very low symptoms, which is very important in terms of preparations for autumn – he noted during the briefing.

Andrusiewicz noted that although in recent days “we have a fairly large scale of increases – 700-800 new cases a day, the number of occupied beds does not increase dramatically”.

“These are the differences between 20-40 beds occupied,” he added.

He also pointed out that in four voivodships (Mazowieckie, Podkarpackie, Łódzkie and Świętokrzyskie), the newly detected cases come from weddings. “We can still see that these wedding outbreaks have an impact (on the number of diagnosed cases – PAP)” – he explained.

Coronavirus: new quarantine rules in Poland

Andrusiewicz also referred to the changed rules of quarantine and isolation in force since Wednesday. He explained that the isolation of asymptomatic patients will now end after 10 days. In the case of people who develop symptoms of the disease, the doctor will be able to complete isolation 3 days after the symptoms disappear, but not earlier than 13 days after confirming the presence of the coronavirus by the test.

“Another important thing corresponds to this – teleportation,” he explained. He reminded that on the seventh day of isolation, patients receive an SMS from the Ministry of Health about the possibility of medical consultation.

– If the doctor during this teleportation does not have any other recommendations, we are released from isolation after 10 days (in the case of an asymptomatic patient), and most often after 13 days (in the case of a symptomatic patient). Of course, it could be the 16th or 19th day, taking into account those 3 days from the disappearance of symptoms – he added.

He reminded that the quarantine period has also been shortened to 10 days from the previous 14 days, and that the release from it is now automatic. He explained that the changes to these rules result from the indications of, inter alia, Of the World Health Organization (WHO) and activities are tailored as medical and expert knowledge about the virus develops.

– As we read the reports of both WHO and CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention – PAP), but also Polish experts, epidemiologists, after the tenth day the possibility of infection is very small, often negligible. If a virus is detected by genetic testing, it is the particle of a virus gene that is excreted from the body, he argued.
