Our reader is very annoyed by her mother’s habits, but going into conflict is not an option. So what do you do?
My mother gave birth to me early, at the age of 18. No, no, not on the fly, he and dad had an early, but real and happy love. By the way, it was not, but is: soon they will celebrate the “pearl wedding” – 30 years of marriage!
Mom is a very beautiful woman. She is under 50, but even young men turn after her. However, I do not know what attracts others more: mother’s beauty or her image and aroma. The fact is that it is “turned” in the 90s of the last century.
Then everything was in short supply. I will never forget how we went with her to the fleeting market (“the crowd,” as we said). It was a crowd of people – buyers – who slowly moved along a living corridor of sellers who offered imported things, perfumes, and cosmetics from their hands. There were no counters or fitting rooms then. They measured things and shoes right there, standing on a newspaper, moving a little to the side. Eyeshadows, lipsticks, perfumes from Lancome or Estee Lauder were unprecedented luck and were fabulously expensive. But the Belarusian cosmetics RubyRose, perfumes “Krasnaya Moskva” and “Tet-a-tête” in those years began to appear on the shelves, and there was no need to get up a little light and go pushing to the market.
Since then, my mother has become a loyal fan of our brands. The slogan “Let’s support the domestic producer” is not an empty phrase for her. And if the desire to buy apples and cucumbers from local farmers is very commendable, then her craving for Soviet manufactured goods sometimes reaches ridiculous and ridiculous.
For example, she does not recognize Italian high-quality, silky tights, but buys rough, muddy-flesh-colored tights. And how many times have I presented my mother with luxurious perfumes from the world’s top brands! No, she likes the perfumes of the Novaya Zarya factory or, in extreme cases, the Latvian Dzintars. She always smells like “Silver lily of the valley”, then “Renome”.
She buys cosmetics exclusively from Russia and Belarus: shadows of poisonous turquoise and emerald tones, which are not found in modern women, and lipsticks with a terrible smell of vegetable oil.
And the clothes ?! Leggings, silver, bright purple, turquoise with long shirts under a wide belt. 90s disco style! No, he is not very bad, especially since my mother has a great figure. But so deliberately emphasize the outdated taste. Do you remember the colorful costumes? Mom is happy and now wears those things of 1996 release.
Hygienic and care cosmetics are also only of our production. The shelves in the bathroom are just a museum of the Soviet cosmetic industry: Ballet cream, Egg shampoo, Bannyi hair balm, Family toothpaste and twice a week – Children’s tooth powder. Toothbrushes, by the way, are made of natural bristles. Where does she get them? I suspect it was from my grandmother’s old stock. Household chemicals, of course, are also domestic.
In general, only does not smell of shoe polish from my young, attractive mother (although shoe polish, by the way, is used to clean shoes in my parents’ house). Dad only laughs at all the patriotic addictions of his beloved wife. In general, he loves a woman to be unpainted and “smell clean”. As for me, two boots are a pair. And I am somehow embarrassed that my mother smells like Red Moscow. I’m afraid I won’t be able to make her a civilized modern lady. You need to either reconcile, or stop going out with her. Sometimes I am very embarrassed to walk with her in the park. Several times I started a conversation with her, but she replies to everything: “Daughter, watch your life. Don’t bother your mom to be happy! “
Interview
Should you teach mom good taste?
Yes, time dictates its own laws. Let it keep up with fashion.
Can be advised and gently guided. Perhaps take her to the shops more often and buy fashion magazines.
Leave Mom alone, she has earned the right to enjoy what she likes.
