Musical development of children – rhythmic abilities in preschool age
The musical development of children should be started at an early age. The repertoire must be selected in accordance with the age. Songs and games with music have a good effect on the intellectual and physical development of the baby.
Music for Preschool Children
Scientific studies have shown that a baby in the womb is able to distinguish between parental voices and music. The fruit reacts differently to the sounds of a waltz and a march. The first pieces of music that a baby hears is a gentle lullaby. Rattles appear after it.
The abundance of baby products allows you to choose a melodic rattle. It is worth avoiding rattles and rustling sounds, stop at models with different sounds. A little later, you can buy a xylophone and a children’s harp.
You need to acquaint your child with musical works in small portions. For each age, its own time intervals for listening to music are permissible:
- At the age of 1 year, an infant can listen to music for 2-3 minutes, if the lesson is divided into several intervals of 20-30 seconds. Break between “music techniques” 1-3 s.
- At the age of 2 years, the lesson can last 2-3 minutes, but the intervals of continuous listening are already 40 seconds.
- At 3 years old – the total training time is 4-5 minutes, with continuous sounding 1-1,5 minutes.
The repertoire must be correlated with the age of the kids. In the first year, these are: lullabies and Russian folk songs. From the classics – Mozart’s minuets.
For 2-3 years old you need to select children’s songs about animals and birds, cartoon characters: “A grasshopper was sitting in the grass” or “Ducklings’ dance”. You can take melodies from the kindergarten repertoire.
Development of rhythmic abilities
When conducting music lessons, involve your baby in the performance. This will require children’s musical instruments. Start with the drum, but no sticks to avoid injury. Show your kid how you can extract sounds from the instrument:
- Give it a drum and tap it with your hand.
- Let the child knock himself.
- As you sing the same song, teach your toddler to hit the instrument in the same place.
- Accentuate the strong beats of the piece by hitting the drum.
The next tool is a tambourine. Make it harder by hitting and ringing bells.
You can start with toddlers by kicking or clapping. All this must be accompanied by the words: “clap-clap”, “top-top”. Let the bunny stomp its foot in the song, and the kitty clap its hands.
Conducting music lessons, do not limit yourself only to the children’s repertoire, let the child listen to classical compositions. Do the exercises dosed, without bothering the kids.
