Mucosolvan withdrawn from pharmacies

The Main Pharmaceutical Inspectorate decided to withdraw the popular cough medicine from pharmacies across the country. Why is a pharmaceutical disappearing from the shelves?

The Main Pharmaceutical Inspector decided on Wednesday to withdraw Mucosolwan cough tablets. It is primarily a batch marked with the serial number 2014031 with a validity date until April 2017. The reason for recalling the drug from sale was the reduced content of ambroxol hydrochloride, the active substance.

Mucosolvan is a popular drug used to treat lung and bronchial diseases. The tablets soothe the cough and facilitate expectoration of the remaining secretions. It can be purchased at a pharmacy without a prescription.
