Mucosolvan is a drug used in the treatment of lung and bronchial diseases – it facilitates expectoration of the remaining secretions. It is available over the counter in pharmacies.

Indications for the use of the drug Mucosolvan
Mucosolvan is available over the counter in tablet form. It is taken orally after meals three times a day, one tablet for 2-3 days, and then twice a day. The indications for the use of Mucosolvan are lung and bronchial diseases.
Mucosolvan and contraindications and warnings
A contraindication to the use of Mucosolvan is hypersensitivity to any of its components. It should not be given to people:
- with peptic ulcer disease of the stomach or duodenum;
- with weakened cough reflex or impaired ciliary clearance;
- with liver or kidney failure.
Note:
- In patients with bronchial asthma, ambroxol may initially increase the cough;
- Do not use Mucosolvan at night;
- during pregnancy and breastfeeding, use only after consulting a doctor and only if absolutely necessary.
Mucosolvan and possible side effects
- Allergic reactions rarely occur skin and mucosal reactions.
- The occurrence of anaphylactic reactions, facial swelling, dyspnoea, increased body temperature, chills is sporadic, and their relationship with taking the preparation has not been proven.
- Gastrointestinal complaints (abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea and constipation) have been rarely reported.
Interactions of Mucosolvan with other drugs
- You should not take medications that suppress the cough reflex (antitussive drugs, e.g. codeine) at the same time as Mucosolvan.
- The preparation administered simultaneously with antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin) increases their penetration into the lung tissue.
