PSYchology

There are many types of motivation. First of all, the motivation of other people differs from the motivation of oneself, from self-motivation.

In addition, motivation can be natural and artificial. Natural motivation — occurring due to natural causes and circumstances, and artificial — created by people for the purposes of certain influences.

A tired person in the evening wants to find a place to sleep, a frozen person seeks warmth. This is natural motivation. TV commercials for sneakers, deodorants, and laundry detergents that play with colors, sounds, and images are an artificially created motivation↑.

Motivation can be positive and negative, it is also motivation «to» and motivation «from». Positive motivation, aspiration, is based on positive stimuli or the positive content of the fact. On the negative — negative motivation, avoidance.

“If I sort it out on the table, I will get candy” or “if I don’t mess around, I will get candy” is a positive, positive motivation. “If I sort it out on the table, then they won’t punish me” or “if I don’t indulge, then they won’t punish me” — negative, negative motivation ↑.

In general, motivation refers to mild forms of influence (in comparison with physical influence and other means of coercion), however, in the performance of different people, motivation can occur very differently. If the motivation in the performance of Dushka is interest and appeal to feelings, then the Silovik acts more harshly: he hits the feelings and puts pressure on the feelings↑.

There is external motivation, there is internal motivation. External motivation is the inducement or compulsion to do something by external circumstances or incentives for a person.

A thundercloud on the horizon is very motivating to quickly run home from the forest. We told people the prize — they began to move faster.

Intrinsic motivation — motivation associated not with external circumstances, but with the very content of the activity.

I do not work for a salary, I love my job. Here I have everything to be happy.

If a business is well paid for, this is an external motivation; if a person is interested in a business in itself, he has an internal motivation. At the same time, external motivation can be motivation from the outside (carrot, stimulus, organization of the situation, See →) and motivation from the inside (through managing the vision of the situation, feelings and state).

Sometimes motivation is reactive (in connection with what happened, in connection with guilt, opportunities or mistakes) and proactive (in connection with plans for the future).

In work, in production, it is important to remember that motivation can be material and non-material.

Material — encouragement with money or valuable gifts, intangible — ways of interacting with an employee, demonstrating recognition and his importance in the company. But corporate events, the arrangement of comfortable workplaces, health insurance and similar things, where the employee seems to receive nothing, but the employer spends money, it is difficult to attribute it to material or non-material motivation.
