On May 7, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin gave a long interview. He spoke about new measures to combat COVID-19 and announced real data on the number of infected.
Do not relax! This is exactly what the call to all for the near future sounds like. The situation with the coronavirus in Russia has not yet changed, so the authorities are taking new measures. So, it became known that in the capital from May 12, the mandatory use of masks and gloves will be introduced for everyone who uses public transport. Sergei Sobyanin said this in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.
The mayor of the capital also said that there will be no relaxation of quarantine measures in the near future, that the digital pass system will continue to operate and that residents and guests of Moscow will be especially monitored on May 9. Sobyanin once again emphasized that it is better not to go out into the street unless absolutely necessary.
Such tough measures are primarily associated with the number of cases of COVID-19. According to Sergei Semenovich, there are actually more patients in the city than officially identified: “According to screening studies, they are in the region of 2-2,5 percent of the total population of Moscow, in terms of numbers, this is about 300 thousand. Our task is to identify these people as much as possible ”. According to the latest data, 92 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the capital.
As the mayor assures, the main task at the moment is to identify the maximum possible number of people infected with the coronavirus and send them to quarantine. “A huge amount of work is being done for this, we have doubled testing in a week. Previously, they tested about 20 thousand, now – about 40 thousand, ”TASS quotes Sobyanin.
Each of us can contribute to this cause – to follow all the rules and not leave the house.
