Reason # 6 – You Will Live Longer

Perhaps the most amazing study in the world came from the Stanford University School of Medicine. Several hundred elderly people were selected for the experiments – 538 runners and 423 healthy non-runners. The study was conducted from 1984 to 2005. Old people were simply encouraged to do many common things, from opening a carton of milk to washing their hair.

Each year, each of the participants in the experiment answered the questions of the questionnaire, in which he explained which of these tasks he continued to do and which he could no longer. The lead, you guessed it, was a group of runners.

But the most interesting (albeit saddest) thing was that by the end of the experiment, 85 percent of the runners were still alive, while from the other group, far from sports, only 66 percent of the elderly were alive.
