Moretti Beer (Бирра Моретти)

Birra Moretti is a premium brand of beer that has been produced in Italy for over 2 years. The peculiarity of the drink is traditional recipes and high quality ingredients. The brand is owned by brewing giant Heineken International. Every year, Italian factories produce about XNUMX million hectoliters of Birra Moretti, a significant part of the production is sold outside the country.

Historical information

Luigi Moretti founded his company in 1859 in Italy, when the country was part of the Austrian Empire. The factory was located in the small town of Udine, produced beer and ice. Moretti already owned an established wholesale food business and was far from new to the trade. The company’s business quickly took off, and in the next few decades, beer became known throughout the region.

Initially, the factory was designed to produce 250 thousand liters of products per year, which made it possible to provide beer bars in the province with drinks. However, the increased popularity of the brand required the owner to expand. Moretti managed to buy a large plot of land around the plant, where they built new workshops. During the Second World War, some of the buildings were destroyed, but the owners managed to start production again.

The brewery remained a family business until 1989, when it was sold to an Italian consortium. In 1996, the company was taken over by Heineken International and the old factory closed. It did not work out for the new owners with the new place of production of Birra Moretti – a plant in San Giorgio di Nogaro. Due to problems with Italian antitrust laws, production had to be moved to other factories in the country, which are owned by Heineken.

Birra Moretti is a bottom-fermented beer that can compete with the best German and Belgian lagers. The drink is based on only natural ingredients, and the principles of production have not changed since the company was founded. Selected malt and a special blend of hop varieties are used, which are kept in strict confidence. The brand of Italian beer is successfully sold in more than 40 countries around the world.

Interesting fact

The Birra Moretti label depicts a portrait of a mustachioed man blowing foam off a full mug. The basis was a photograph taken by Moretti in one of the bars in the city. An elderly gentleman asked for another beer in payment for the picture. However, as soon as the advertising campaign was launched, about 800 people “recognized” themselves in the picture, and one of the applicants even managed to get compensation in court. In the future, this role was played by famous Italian actors.
