On Saturday, April 17, the number of deaths as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide exceeded 3 million. Data may not be complete. Moreover, they do not include cases where patients died not from SARS-CoV-2 infection, but due to a lack of hospitals or access to doctors. The actual balance of the coronavirus pandemic is even more tragic.
- For over a year, the whole world has been fighting the coronavirus pandemic. In Poland, the first case of SARS-CoV-2 infection was recorded at the beginning of March 2020.
- Since then, the original virus has mutated. Currently, the South African, Brazilian and British variants have become much more dangerous. The latter currently dominates in Poland

Deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. Data for the world and Poland
By Saturday, April 17, 140 million, 643 thousand people were infected with the coronavirus. 165 people around the world. 119 million 468 thousand were recovered. 712 patients. Unfortunately, some cases of COVID-19 infection have been fatal. They were not always people in a serious general condition, in old age or with many serious comorbidities.
It is still uncertain what determines the course of the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 in a particular patient. Sometimes a person who is not at risk ends up in a hospital under a ventilator and eventually dies. So far, 19 million 3 thousand people in the world have died from COVID-015 infection. 001 people.

In Poland, more than a year has passed since the first case of the coronavirus. The third wave is currently underway in our country and, according to Dr. Michał Sutkowski, is just beginning to end. The balance is, however, tragic: 2 million 675 thousand. 874 infections and 61 825 people died in the last 616 hours. 2 million 285 thousand recovered. 221 infected.
Actual pandemic casualties – no data available
Worldwide data is available from, among others Worldometer. However, as the BBC writes, this data may not be complete. Not all countries reliably complete and report such information. This means that the actual number of deaths from SARS-CoV-2 infection could be much higher.

A separate issue is the silent victims of the pandemic – patients who do not reach the hospital on time despite life-threatening conditions. They downplay the symptoms and then die at home. Not every person with a heart attack or stroke will go to the hospital – ambulances in Poland even arrive with a delay of several hours or circulate from hospital to hospital, because there are no places anywhere. Women who develop ovarian or breast cancer do not even know about it, because they drop out of control tests for fear of infection or only participate in teleportation. And without a stationary visit to the gynecologist, it is not possible to perform an ultrasound of the breast or ovaries. Neither can a cytology be done this way, which can indicate that the body is developing cervical cancer.
If we add to the official number of deaths of COVID-19 patients also those unknown numbers at the moment, it is very likely that we will achieve an even more alarming result. For now, however, there are no such calculations.
