More and more cases of syphilis and gonorrhea. How to protect yourself?

It would seem that serious venereal diseases, such as syphilis and gonorrhea, are rather under control. Meanwhile, this year saw an over 20% increase in the incidence of these units compared to the previous year. Are we threatened by an epidemic?

Syphilis and gonorrhea – sudden increase in reported cases

Sanepid recorded 574 cases of syphilis and 195 cases of gonorrhea this year. It may not seem like much, but you should pay attention to the fact that in the case of the first disease it is 25%. more than last year, and in the case of the second – 20 percent. more. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as patients are reluctant to consult a doctor with these problems.

Syphilis and gonorrhea – why is the number of people infected increasing?

Where does this sudden increase in the number of cases reported come from? A generation with great moral freedom enters adulthood. Young people are eager to engage in random sexual contacts. Unfortunately, knowledge about it does not go hand in hand with a rich intimate life.

For obvious reasons, the number of cases increases during the summer. It is worth paying attention to the fact that we travel more and more to exotic places.

From countries such as Thailand or Cambodia, we can bring not only unforgettable impressions, but also pathogens – including HIV. Therefore, doctors are especially careful about sexual intercourse in regions where the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases is high.
