I teach him to sort and select objects
Goal of the game ?
Here is an activity that promotes “discrimination”. Ooh, you say to yourself, where are we going? Rest assured ! We go on the path of the selection of information to find the object of our research.
Hence the idea of ”discrimination”: we drop objects that do not interest us to find the one we are looking for. This allows the child to learn to sort and make choices according to instructions, while eliminating what does not interest him.
The unfolding?
For this activity of “kinesthetic recognition” (which involves touch and movement), and auditory (you are going to state the name of this or that object), we need a few everyday objects: a clothespin / an eraser / a hazelnut / a pen / a ring / a thimble / etc.
We can play with two or with siblings, it’s just as funny.
Level 1 (easy) : the parent says a word and the child must pick up the object as quickly as possible.
Examples: “pliers”, “pen”, “ring” …
2 level : to make the game more spicy, the parent does not say the name of the object, but gives a physical feature to make the child guess it.
Examples: “I am made of wood and useful for hanging, who am I?” »,« I am square and with peas, who am I? “…
3 level : the parent says what the object is not. One proceeds by elimination and one “discriminates” the objects not concerned.
Example: “I am not made of wood, I am useless on paper, I do not fit around a finger…”
4 level : to promote touch, you can ask the child to close his eyes and feel the objects to find the one you have designated.
After that ?
We vary the objects (provide a reserve lot).
For the older ones? You can ask them to spell the word and / or to spell it out (with an a, with an s…).
