Montale fragrances are almost entirely built around one note – oud tree, without the traditional French perfume pyramid.
Oud tree
The tree or aquilaria tree (agarwood, aloeswood, oud) is referred to in the Bible as a tree from the gardens of Eden. It is so precious that pieces of it are kept in the treasury of the Japanese imperial family and bear their own names. To see it, you need to make a 10-day trek through the jungles of Southeast Asia. Oud tree oil is extracted in a special way, described in ancient chronicles, and its cost can reach 30-50 thousand dollars per kilogram. A scented ointment made from the roots of the oud tree, placed in a bottle made of an alloy of gold and silver, is kept for several years in a special pit, protected from temperature changes and sunlight, filling with the mystical properties of an aphrodisiac.
Perfumes of Arab sheikhs
The perfumery of Arab sheikhs and sultans is mysterious and attractive. This 50 ml aluminum bottle in a black silk pouch has been specially designed to protect fragrances from the effects of light. Each of the fragrances is a work of art, a refined, refined blend of the traditions of the East and the West. The color of the bottles varies depending on the concentration of oud oil in the aroma: silver – the lowest concentration; golden bottles – high concentration of oud oil with the addition of rose; dark bottles (blue and black) – the highest concentration of oud oil.
