A California man contracted COVID-19 and monkey pox at the same time. Foreign media write about a “double dose of misfortune”. Doctors explain: “It is certainly not impossible”.

Mitcho Thompson from Sebastopol, California, told NBC Bay Area about his misfortune. At the end of June, he was tested positive for coronavirus. He wasn’t feeling well, and soon he started noticing little red changes on his skin – mostly on his back, legs, arms and neck.

“The doctor was sure I had monkey pox… and that I had COVID-19 ″,” said Thompson. – I asked if it was possible for me to have them at the same time. He replied: “Yes, yes, yes,” he added. Among the symptoms he had were fever, difficulty breathing, chills, body aches and skin changes. Thompson felt like he had a severe case of the flu.

“The worst part was that I could just barely get out of bed and have a drink of water,” he reported.

An infectious disease specialist at Stanford University confirmed that it is possible for someone to contract both viruses at the same time. “It certainly isn’t impossible,” Dr. Dean Winslow told NBC Bay Area. —It is just incredible bad luck.
