Moment glue stain: how to remove it?

Try to quickly remove the Moment glue from the fabric

Stubborn stains from any rubber superglue must first be pretreated. You can remove a fresh stain yourself with a cotton swab or a soft cloth dipped in gasoline. Be careful, gasoline can damage the fabric, so test somewhere along the seam before applying it to the stain.

Vinegar has the same effect; it is also used to moisten a cloth and wipe the contaminated area. For vinegar treatment, mix two tablespoons of vinegar and a spoonful of water. If necessary, repeat the treatment several times until the stain disappears, then wash the item with powder according to the instructions for the fabric.

If the clothes are made of jeans, it makes sense to “dry up” the stain a little, the rubber base of the glue will begin to oxidize and lose its adhesive properties. In a word, the glue will become less sticky, and it will be possible to remove it by pulling it out.

Treat rough, chemically resistant fabrics with acetone-based nail polish remover. This is a rather aggressive method, but acetone dissolves glue stains very effectively. Remember that aggressive chemicals are not used on fabrics such as: – velvet, – silk, – wool, – chiffon, – guipure, – all types of lace, etc., at home, glue can be removed from such materials with a gentle solution … You can prepare such a solution by mixing citric acid (20 g) and water (200 ml). Apply the liquid with a cotton swab to the dirt, wipe, and then wash the item. Repeat the manipulation if necessary.

If the stain does not come out, it is better to take things from delicate fabrics to dry cleaning.

If the stain is old and the fabric can be ironed with a hot iron, try heating the glue spot (you can use a hairdryer instead of an iron). After this procedure, the glue is easier to remove from the fabric. If the stain is fresh, the item can be sent to the freezer – at low temperatures, some types of Moment glue become brittle and can be removed without problems.

For easy and effective removal of glue, you can also use special products sold in hardware stores. Such compositions are called “Antikley”, “Chistar”, “GlueOff”, etc. depending on the manufacturers.

Moment glue stains are usually only visible on white items, so if the fabric permits, use regular bleach to remove them. If you cannot bleach, wash with laundry soap, the pigment does not like alkali, so it will quickly leave your clothes.
