They say that losing weight is easy, but keeping the result for a long time is difficult. After all, for this you need not just go on a diet for a couple of weeks, but change your entire lifestyle. Only a very strong shock can lead to this, from which something will click in my head and switch to a healthy lifestyle. This is exactly what happened to 38-year-old Ashana Spinelli, a mother of two. Her weight, with a rather small stature, began to approach the 90 kilogram mark, but she simply did not notice it.
She got married, gave birth, recovered. She gave birth again, recovered a little more. A script familiar to many young mothers. With two kids in arms and full-time employment, it’s not at all time to count calories, weigh yourself, and measure your waist every week. I didn’t manage to fit into the things that I wore before pregnancy – so what? Everyone gets better after giving birth, then someday I will drop it. Anyway, what’s wrong, I look fine.
Ashana thought so. But that all changed during the usual shopping trip. No, the point was not that Ashana did not find the right size or could not squeeze into the usual one. She just suddenly saw someone’s reflection in the window and thought: “Wow, like a young woman, and such a heavy, stooped stomach sticks out, as she let herself go.” And then it dawned on her that this unfamiliar woman was holding the hands of her children. So this woman is she? Can not be! She did not perceive herself at all like that!
“At home, in a familiar environment and familiar mirrors, I saw myself different. And here I just did not recognize myself. Is it really me? Something needs to be changed, ”says Ashana.
It was her moment when the switch went off — she no longer wanted to look like a bulky middle-aged aunt. “I returned home and told my husband that this could not continue,” continues Ashana. – I changed diets one after another, broke down, gained weight again. But this time it had to be different. “
A company of like-minded people helped Ashan. It’s more fun to do everything together, even to lose weight. I had to work on the diet: transfer all the sweets to the morning, add more vegetables to lunch and dinner. If cookies or cupcakes, then only homemade, healthy ones, because fitness and PP fans have long ago invented a whole mountain of recipes for delicious desserts that can be eaten even by those who are losing weight. The woman refused fast food and alcohol altogether – after all, one must set a good example for children!
And I also so wanted to fit into a little black dress – exactly the same one that she wore before pregnancy …
Diet is good, but not enough. Ashana decided to add workouts: she downloaded an application with a set of simple exercises with minimal equipment, began to walk more, stopped using the elevator, and in search of a parking space no longer tried to drive as close to her destination as possible.
“The main thing that helped me was that I didn’t aim to lose 20 kilos at once. I wanted to lose weight by a kilogram per week, but consistently, every week. For success, she rewarded herself with something pleasant, but not food. You can’t make a reward out of food, it will lead to a breakdown, ”Ashana said.
Four months later, my mother looked completely different – she lost 17 kilograms and already weighed 64 kilos. But Ashana did not even refuse sweets – her diet included both cookies and pastries.
“There is no need to deprive yourself of small joys. Then there will be no suffering. Let me come to the goal more slowly, but happy, ”- Ashana is sure.
