The woman gave the child up for adoption immediately after his birth. And only recently the mother and son were found again.
Amanda Borland was 17 years old when she gave birth to her first child. It’s too early, yes, but it happens. She decided not to have an abortion, but to give the child up for adoption. Those who wanted to take the baby to the family were found quickly. Gene and Kerry Hardy took baby Jibril. However, this did not mean that the mother would no longer see her son: in America there is such a thing as open adoption. It means that the biological mother knows where the child lives, they send her a photo of him, and she can give him gifts for the holidays. True, they could not see each other.
This went on for a year: Amanda sent Jibril gifts, received new pictures of him.
“I saved every last one of these pictures. And even one of his suit has survived, ” Amanda told Inside Edition.
But then the Hardy family moved. And the idyll, even if it is very conditional, is over. Many years later. Amanda did not forget her son – despite the fact that by that time she already had a large family: they got married with Djibril’s father, they already had more children. And one day she tried to find Jibril. How? Through the Internet.
– I wrote his name, added “Texas” – his adoptive parents went there. And she added “baseball”: in the last picture I got of Jibril, he was wearing a baseball uniform.
Google did a miracle – gave the mother a photo of her son, whom she gave up for adoption 18 years ago. The guy just turned 19 – quite an adult.
The photos found by the search engine were linked to Twitter. So Amanda managed to contact Jibril without any problems – her youngest daughter simply wrote to her brother.
“I was shocked,” Gibreel admitted honestly. – A week before Jasmine wrote to me, I was just saying that it would be nice to find my biological mother. My parents told me that I was adopted when I turned 17. And the only thing I knew about my real mother was her name.
The family was reunited on March 14th.
“I was very nervous,” Gibreel said. – I can’t even explain what it was like to hug my parents for the first time.
– It was amazing! We met him at the airport. I’m so glad we got a second chance with him, ”said Amanda Borland. – Jibril’s adoptive parents are wonderful people. I still can’t stop smiling. We are all one big family.
