Moisturizing face masks

After a long flight, a day at the office, or a weekend at the beach – in any circumstances that can dry out the skin, apply moisturizing masks to the face. And we will tell you how they work and how to make them at home.

Why Moisturizing Face Masks Are Necessary

With face masks, we have a special relationship and great love. Which is not surprising. Firstly, it’s fast: applied to the face for 10-20 minutes – and immediately after being removed / washed off, the skin was moisturized, radiant, nourished. Secondly, it is convenient: while the mask is on your face, you can go about your business – not like a session with a beautician when you have to lie still with your eyes closed.

Moisturizing face masks deserve a separate discussion, if only because they are universal, suitable for use at home and needed by people of different ages with different skin types. Here is what moisturizing masks do for the face:

  • improve complexion;
  • refresh the skin;
  • give elasticity;
  • and even smooth out shallow wrinkles, the so-called lines of dehydration.

Check if your skin is getting enough moisture.

With regular use of moisturizing face masks, the hydro-lipid protective barrier is strengthened, and skin renewal processes are accelerated.

The main advantage of moisturizing face masks over creams of the same purpose is a more intense effect. After all, a high concentration of active substances in them is combined with the effect of occlusion. A snug fit of a mask to moisturize the skin to the face or a film on its surface literally “presses” the active substances into the skin, helping them to penetrate deeper into the epidermis for active work. Plus… A moisturizing face mask is so easy to make at home! We’ll show you how below.

How to choose a moisturizing face mask

In addition to skin type, when choosing a moisturizing face mask, consider personal preferences: a pleasant aroma for you, a comfortable texture, and a convenient principle of action. For example, some masks form a film on the face, which must then be rolled up or removed. Or they freeze and require rinsing with water. These two formats of masks are not intended for moisturizing. Moisturizers include other types of masks. The most common are listed below.

  1. Rinse-off cream-gel masks: apply for 10-20 minutes in a thick layer, and unabsorbed residues are washed off with water or removed with cotton pads.

  2. Leave-in cream-gel masks. The layer is thinner, and it is not necessary to get rid of it. They are a substitute for night cream.

  3. Tissue Masks (came to us from Asia). By applying a cloth impregnated with a moisturizing composition to the skin, of course, at first you will look like a mummy. But then the skin will pleasantly please with freshness and beauty.

There are nuances in choosing moisturizing masks for each skin type.

  • Oily problem skin. A mask based on moisturizers such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, algae extracts will come in handy. Oils, waxes and lanolin acid that can provoke rashes are prohibited.

  • Dry sensitive skin. Here, more fatty substances are needed for moisturizing – waxes, oils, fatty acids. Although any other moisturizers are also welcome.

  • Normal skin. Suitable for all types of moisturizing face masks.
