Moisturizers: cream cosmetics reviews

Among the huge selection of facial moisturizers that brands offer, choosing the right one is not so easy. We have collected the most anticipated new items this fall and tested them for a month. Read our honest reviews, but remember that how many people, so many opinions …

Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Moisturizer

Tested by Vera Likhosherstova, brand manager of women’s sites at Hearst Shkulev Media

Recently, a SPA-salon specialist convinced me that my skin is dry and that at twenty-seven years old I should pay special attention to this fact, because, “just look, beauty will fade.” Therefore, after reading the positive reviews about Givenchy Hydra Sparkling face cream, I wanted to try it.

I have always liked Givenchy, and the word “Hydra” in the name promised to quench the thirst of the skin cells. In my opinion, the bottle of the product was also promising – a gentle blue color, translucent, it resembled a small lake with the purest cool water, into which I wanted to plunge as soon as possible.

However, the texture of the cream turned out to be denser and thicker than I imagined myself. The cream is absorbed rather slowly and leaves on the face the feeling of a warm blanket, under which it is difficult to breathe. An unwanted shine has appeared. Although it may have been the “glow of the skin” promised by the manufacturer. I was afraid that the skin might become oily, and therefore more prone to inflammation. Fortunately, nothing terrible happened to the skin, it even became softer and silky. However, after testing the cream for a week, I decided to give it to my mom. And, by the way, he suited her perfectly. True, she uses it only at night, three times a week, and not every day, morning and evening, as I do.

So, my verdict is this: Givenchy Hydra Sparkling cream is suitable for very dry and mature skin. It’s too early for me to use it. So for now, I’m not cheating on my favorite, Oro Gold Day Moisturizer. It is instantly absorbed, leaving a feeling of freshness. In my opinion, the cream is just perfect for young skin with the first signs of aging.

Kenzoki Hydratant Ange Gardien Moisturizer

Tested by Svetlana Kirienina, editor of the website Psychologies.ru

The name is promising: they say that this cream will become my guardian angel (translated from French: ange-guardien). It moisturizes, soothes and protects my extremely sensitive skin from environmental aggressions. In short, the standard set of promises …

It is difficult for me to find a facial care product. My skin is prone to irritation and redness, thin and rather dry. In this case, allergies often happen – you have to be extremely selective. And pretty picky.

It is important for me that “everything is beautiful” – such is my feminine weakness. Nice and minimalistic. In this sense, Kenzoki pleased me: laconic and clean packaging design. Nice to look at, nice to hold. Like all Kenzo products, the cream has a subtle, unobtrusive scent. “Subtle” is, in my opinion, the best characteristic of a fragrance when it comes to a care product. The texture is very light, quite delicate. The cream is quickly absorbed and, most importantly, moisturizes the skin just as quickly. I literally felt how it was saturated with moisture, cell by cell. It turns out that she was so drained that she immediately “drank” every last drop. The feeling of tightness (which almost never leaves me) disappeared. And, most importantly, there was no need to reapply the cream during the day: it is optimally moisturized until the evening. It seems that the cream also has a slight soothing effect: the skin color is evened out, redness becomes less noticeable. The cream also did not cause allergies in me.

I don’t know how successfully Kenzoki was able to protect me from the aggression of this cruel world: I think in order to clarify this, you need to use this tool a little longer. Still, this is perhaps one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used.

Moisturizing sorbet Vinosource Crème Sorbet Hydratante by Caudalie

Tested by Nastya Obukhova, editor of the section “Fashion and Shopping”, Woman’s Day

To be honest, I have not used a moisturizer for quite a long time – about six months. This is primarily due to the strange reaction of my skin to such products. I attribute this to the reactivity of my skin and the incompatibility with silicones in the composition. And before I tested Caudalie Vinosource Crème Sorbet Hydratante, I carefully studied the label. In the annotation to the product it is said that it is designed to saturate the skin with moisture, soothe it and neutralize redness. Actually, it was precisely the fact that the cream-gel is shown for sensitive skin that bribed me. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone. At the same time, inflammation often appears on my still extremely sensitive skin.

As soon as I opened the cap of Caudalie Vinosource Crème Sorbet Hydratante and breathed in its scent, I fell in love with this product without memory. But, unfortunately, the feelings were not mutual. The first time I applied the cream, or rather, sorbet, as the manufacturer calls it, in the morning before work. I liked the feeling of being hydrated. The skin became very soft, as if it was finally saturated with moisture. The texture of the product is very light, it absorbs quickly, but, unfortunately, leaves a slight feeling of a film on the skin. In doing so, I used the cream gel in an extremely small amount: I rubbed a pea-sized product between my fingers and applied it to my face with very light patting movements. Despite the slight stickiness that went away after a couple of minutes, it seemed to me that the pores were significantly reduced and the skin tone became smoother. However, after a couple of hours, sitting at work, a strong shine appeared on the skin – my face seemed to be covered with grease … But I did not despair. I really liked the aroma of the product, the feeling when applied, a slightly loose consistency and composition based on organic grape water, chamomile, grape seed polyphenols and other useful ingredients, and the fact that the cream did not contain any hated silicones at all …

I didn’t want to give up the cream gel, and I decided to leave it for night care. I applied Caudalie Vinosource Crème Sorbet Hydratante before bed, expecting to wake up with a greasy yet moisturized face. Imagine my surprise when in the morning I saw in the mirror two crimson cheeks and a reddened tip of the nose. At the same time, the red spots tingled and tingled. What is the reason for this reaction, I do not know. Usually this happens to me in severe frosts, and even then not too often. After the incident, I put the cream aside and within a couple of days brought my skin back to normal with the help of the usual products that I have been using on an ongoing basis for about a year – Kiehl’s face wash and ultra-moisturizing tonic. Despite the bad experience, I plan to give Caudalie Vinosource Crème Sorbet Hydratante another chance, if only for neck care.

Chanel Hydra Beauty cream

Tested by Olga Milanova, service editor, Woman’s Day

Before deciding to test ChanelHydraBeautycream, I studied its instructions and read reviews. So, thanks to the main ingredients (camellia flower and shea butter and derived canola oils), the product promises to moisturize the skin and protect it from adverse environmental influences. Also, one of the main features of the cream is that it can be used in any season, regardless of climatic fluctuations. The cream is designed for dry skin. I just have one, so I started testing it with interest.

I will say right away: after the first application of Hydra Beauty cream I really liked it. The skin is immediately smooth, soft and radiant. I was also won over by the very pleasant fruity-floral aroma of the cream. I was also pleased with the texture of the cream: it is light, the cream is quickly absorbed, it does not leave an unpleasant feeling of grease on the face. Therefore, the product can be used both in the morning and at night, without fear that the cream will not have time to be absorbed.

After a week of using the product, the skin has become noticeably more hydrated, and the complexion is healthy and radiant. For myself, I did not find any shortcomings of this cosmetic product, so I will be happy to continue using it.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Fase Base Moisturizer

Tested by Maria Melnikova, editorial assistant at Woman’s Day website

I tried the new Bobbi Brown face cream, specially formulated as a caring makeup base with vitamins. First of all, I read the composition of the product. So, among the ingredients of the cream there is shea butter, which moisturizes and softens the skin, carrot extracts and vitamin A, which smooth and remove fine mimic wrinkles, as well as vitamins C and E – they protect against the harmful effects of the environment. I will say right away: I was satisfied with the promised properties of the cream.

In addition to the composition, I really liked the smell of Vitamin Enriched Fase Base from Bobbi Brown: thanks to grapefruit and geranium, it is very invigorating, but at the same time light and unobtrusive. As for the texture of the cream, at first it seemed to me quite dense, I did not even expect it as a remedy with such the texture can be a make-up base. But my fears were not justified. The cream is instantly absorbed and does not leave a greasy shine on the skin, so immediately after applying it, I used foundation and powder.

So, after a month of daily use of this product, I really noticed a positive change. The complexion (without makeup) has become less dull. I have no mimic wrinkles, but I am sure that their cream would have smoothed out too. I did not identify any drawbacks for myself. Therefore, I will continue to use this cream as a base for makeup.

Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum

Tested by Maria Melnikova, editorial assistant at Woman’s Day website

I tried the new Aquasource Deep Serum from Biotherm with interest because I have mixed problem skin and it was important to understand how this product copes with oiliness, moisturizes dry areas and at the same time does not add extra shine. Of course, this is not an easy task …

The serum contains the cellular water of thermal plankton and mannose – a natural molecule-monosaccharide. These ingredients, in an innovative triple concentration, promise to deliver moisture to the deepest layers of the skin. So, what happened in practice. I applied the serum once a day for two weeks all over my face, paying particular attention to the dry areas of my cheekbones. I can say that I noticed both the pros and cons: the product is very quickly absorbed and moisturizes well, but on the oily areas of the skin it gives an unwanted shine.

In principle, the product was not originally intended for mixed skin types … I think it would be perfect for dry skin.

Moisturizer EMOLLIENCE by SkinCeuticals

Tested by Irina Samonova, content manager of women’s sites at Hearst Shkulev Media

This nourishing and moisturizing cream has a complex composition that includes vitamins, various natural extracts and oils. The manufacturing company (USA) recommends it for dry and sensitive skin. The cold outside and dry air in the office are good reasons to try a new product. In addition, I was bribed by the composition of the cream: seaweed extract and oil – sesame, grape seed, macadamia, rose hips, apricot seeds, mango, patchouli …

So, I open a jar of cream and sniff gently. Surprise! The cream is fragrance free. A completely neutral, almost imperceptible smell that does not irritate with obsession and does not mix with the notes of your favorite perfume. I dip my fingers into the cream: the texture is delicate and pleasant. The cream spreads easily over the skin and is quickly absorbed, it is not felt at all on the skin, but I instantly forget that usually my face becomes very dry after washing.

After a week of use, no side effects, redness or irritation were found. The skin is firm and hydrated. I draw a conclusion: hide SkinCeuticalsEMOLLIENCE for the winter, when the skin needs special care and attention.

Active ingredients: seaweed extract, COMPLEX oils (sesame, grape seed, macadamia, rose hips, apricot seeds, mango, patchouli), vitamin B5, allantoin, beech bud extracts, wild cherry, sage and chamomile, lavender and rosemary extracts and bergamot oil and peppermint oil.

Diademine Lift + Wrinkle Smoothing Anti-Aging Moisturizer

Tested by Irina Samonova, content manager of women’s sites at Hearst Shkulev Media

The Diademine Lift + Wrinkle Smoothing line of cosmetics was developed by Henkel in cooperation with an expert in the field of plastic surgery and leading anti-aging specialist Dr. Caspari. Creams and serums are designed to solve age-related skin problems without injections and expensive cosmetic procedures. Diademine Lift + Wrinkle Smoothing Day Cream contains a complex with hyaluronic acid and Amino-M-Cell. The ad promises firming the skin and filling in wrinkles from the inside out. Check it out?

The cream looks quite ordinary: it is white, with an unobtrusive floral scent, and is very dense in texture. To apply it on the skin of the face and neck, it is necessary to distribute very carefully. Perhaps this is the only thing that did not please me very much. But with all this, despite such a texture, it must be admitted that it is absorbed instantly. And according to the results of a weekly application, one can note the moisture content and an increase in skin tone. The miracle did not happen, nevertheless, a slight lifting effect is evident. Conclusion: an excellent “basic” cream in the middle price category.

ToitBel Cream Swiss Herbs Alpine Rose Face Moisturizer

Tested by Yulia Gaponova, Managing Editor, Woman’s Day

If you have sensitive or dry skin, then I think you will understand how difficult it is to find a decent care for it. After all, you need not only to nourish it with active substances, but also to moisturize it in such a way that there is no feeling of dryness, burning and discomfort.

SwissHerbsAlpineRoseFaceCream caught my attention immediately. He just bribed me with a composition in which no parabens were found. The cream is part of the TOITBELSWISSHERBS line of herbal cosmetics, containing alpine rose and aloe extract. This line was developed on medicinal herbs using a unique Swiss technology. The developers promised reliable protection of the skin from the effects of stress, ultraviolet rays and long-term hydration. As a bonus, it slows down the aging process, maintains elasticity and prevents the appearance of wrinkles.

And this turned out to be, to my surprise, true. SwissHerbsAlpineRoseFaceCream Moisturizer with Alpine Rose Extract truly provides the skin with long-lasting hydration. It is also very important for me that the cream has a light texture, is quickly absorbed and has a pleasant delicate aroma. All this SwissHerbsAlpineRoseFaceCream handled just fine.

Well, I haven’t noticed the promised bonus in the form of a rejuvenating effect yet … But I hope that after prolonged use I will feel this effect too.

Moisturizing serum Aqua-Vitale Serum24 from Swiss line

Tested by Yulia Gaponova, Managing Editor, Woman’s Day

I have never used serums before, I prefer creams. In this case, I am a conservative. With sensitive skin like mine, it is better not to risk it again and use only proven products.

So I thought until I tried the Aqua-Vitale Serum24 from Swiss line, which contains vitamins and extracts of alpine herbs (edelweiss, coltsfoot, gentian). It is ideal for hot weather when the cream feels heavy, foreign and greasy on the skin. The serum itself is a light white gel, very delicate in texture.

The developers claim that the Swiss line Aqua-Vitale Serum24 provides a moisturizing, antioxidant and tonic agent, which means that this product is suitable for any skin of all ages. I don’t know about all skin types, but personally I didn’t feel any discomfort, and for me this is an indicator. At first use, when applying, there was a feeling that there was too much serum and it would need to be removed. But after about 10 seconds, this sensation goes away. The skin becomes very soft and pleasant to the touch. The only negative is the smell. The serum contains a slight fragrance, a herbal scent that I really didn’t like. But this, as they say, is not for everybody.

Now, with the arrival of cold weather, of course, I will return to using creams, and I will leave this product until better times, before hot weather.

Moisturizing gel-cream “Day SPA care” by Vichy

Kristina Semina, Beauty Editor, Woman’s Day

Until I found “my” face cream that would suit me 100 percent. Of course, I have several brands in priority, among them Vichy. But I’ll be honest: I don’t like all the products of this brand. For three weeks I have been using SoinHydratant 24H from the Aqualia Thermal line. He was fine with me. Therefore, I decided to try a new product from the same series – Gel-Cream “Day SPA Care”. The product is intended for sensitive and tired skin and promises to instantly moisturize the skin and give the face a radiance.

Unfortunately, the cream-gel did not suit me. After the first application, the skin immediately felt tight. At the same time, I cannot call my skin hypersensitive or prone to allergies. I didn’t like the texture either – it’s too liquid, like water. As a result, I gave “Day SPA care” to a friend. By the way, she had no complaints about the new product. According to her, the cream-gel perfectly moisturizes the skin and is instantly absorbed. However, she did not notice the radiance and improvement of complexion. But on the other hand, unlike me, she did not feel any discomfort.

I went back to Soin Hydratant 24H. Suitable for dry and dehydrated skin, it moisturizes, nourishes and brightens. I can say that the description of the tool really coincides with reality. I also like that it has a dense texture (by the way, I once again made sure that gels are not suitable for me)!

There is only one conclusion: everything is very individual. But if you want to try Vichy’s tools, test the probe first.

Shiseido The Skincare Day Moisture Protection

Katerina Nechkina, editor-in-chief of Woman’s Day

Shiseido’s The Skincare Day Moisture Protection is designed for normal to oily skin. The manufacturer promises that the product has not only pronounced moisturizing properties, but also a UV filter and a filter to protect the skin from free radicals.

Testing period: a week.

I got The Skincare Day Moisture Protection by Shiseido in a bottle with a pump and dispenser – it’s very convenient, since I don’t like fiddling with jars, lids, cream spatulas and other trifles. In addition, sealed packaging prevents bacteria from entering the nutrient creamy medium, and from there onto the face. For people like me, who are constantly fighting for clean skin, this is very important and is a strong argument in favor of choosing one or another remedy.

The second plus of The Skincare Day Moisture Protection from Shiseido is the texture – liquid, more like a lotion than a fluid or emulsion. The moisturizer spreads easily over the skin: just a couple of drops and one press of the dispenser were enough for my face and neck.

Alas, this is where the pros of The Skincare Day Moisture Protection from Shiseido ended for me. Despite its light texture, the emulsion was poorly absorbed into the skin and left a shiny oily film on the face 5-7 minutes after application. This is quite forgivable for a night cream, but for a day moisturizer, which also serves as a base for makeup, this is a significant disadvantage. In addition, I did not feel the promised deep hydration; Of course, the feeling of tightness of the skin that I got after washing disappeared, but soon returned again – after a couple of hours, when the foundation put on the oil base was already dripping off my face. It is possible that the emulsion simply “clashed” with other products that I use in my daily care: facial cleansers, lotions and serums. But the paradoxical combination of oily and insufficient skin moisture scared me away from further experiments with this tool, and no filters from stress and free radicals could convince me.

Natuderm Botanics Ginkgo & Olive Moisturizer

Tested by Katerina Nechkina, editor-in-chief of Woman’s Day

Natuderm Botanics Moisturizer for Dry Skin hydrates the skin and stimulates the natural regulation of the skin’s water-fat balance. As a result, skin elasticity is increased, it becomes soft and smooth and shines with health.

Testing period: three weeks.

In Natuderm Botanics cream with ginkgo and olive extract, I was confused by the fact that it was designed for dry skin (I have a combination), and inspired by the fact that it is positioned as a completely organic, natural, suitable for vegans, eco-activists and Greenpeace residents. All Natuderm Botanics products are free of mineral oils, silicones, parabens, GMOs and rabbit tears – they are not tested on animals.

The effect of using Natuderm Botanics cream exceeded all my expectations. A week after meeting him, I ran to the nearby pharmacies (Natuderm Botanics products are distributed through the pharmacy chain) to find out where you can buy the rest of the Ginkgo and Oliva products. Firstly, the cream is perfectly absorbed without leaving a hint of a greasy film on the face; secondly, it perfectly moisturizes the skin; thirdly, it serves as a good base for makeup – the tone lays on it evenly and lasts a long time. In general, it does everything that its manufacturer promised, and even more – Natuderm Botanics cream helped my skin survive the traumatic mechanical cleaning of my face and slightly accelerated the healing of microdamages.
