Modern jackets: wash and rinse. Video Tips

Modern jackets are made of high-tech breathable materials that allow moisture to pass through, preventing it from penetrating inside. This happens due to various types of membranes, but it is these very membranes that, when trying to wash such a jacket, are clogged with detergent, as a result of which, after drying, whitish stains are formed on the fabric.

Jacket: how to wash and rinse

Almost any modern jacket can be washed in a regular washing machine: light windbreakers, complex membrane systems and even bulky down jackets. Except perhaps the leather one. Take the necessary precautions before washing. Empty your pockets, fasten the zips and buttons, and carefully read the care instructions on the label on the inside of your jacket.

Do not try to wash your jacket too often, only if it is really dirty. Sometimes washing can be replaced by regular airing or wiping the stains with a damp cloth.

Use a liquid detergent for clothes without fragrances or other additives instead of powder. And in no case add conditioner to the machine for rinsing the linen, otherwise the jacket, especially if it is made of membrane fabric or stuffed with fluff, can be immediately thrown into the trash can. Choose the washing mode based on the recommendations of the jacket manufacturer. That is, if the water temperature is not higher than 30 ° C on the label, you should not be unauthorized and set a higher temperature on the regulator in the hope that the jacket will be washed off better. If the machine has an extra rinse button, it is best to press it. This will help rinse out the soap residue from the fabrics. The spin function can be left on, but at the same time select the minimum number of drum revolutions.

Even the thinnest jacket must be washed separately. The less the fabric spins in the machine, the less detergent will settle on it after rinsing.

Drying

After washing, remove the clean jacket from the machine. You can put your down jacket in the dryer with peace of mind, but do not forget to send 3-4 heavy tennis balls to it in the company. But the rest of the jackets are best dried in the fresh air, hanging in a straightened state on ordinary wardrobe hangers. After a while, touch the garment and, if necessary, turn it inside out so that the lining and sleeves do not get wet. If, despite all precautions, the jacket still has white streaks, you can wash it again in the same mode, but without adding detergent. Treat a dried jacket with a special water-repellent spray, which will not only make it waterproof in the rain, but also prevent dirt from quickly settling on the surface of the fabric.
