This mystical incident happened during the war.
Swamp case
Pavel fought in a partisan detachment. In the fall of 1941, the Germans discovered this detachment, began to pursue and, in the end, drove it to the very edge of an impassable swamp. The soldiers had no hope of salvation. The commander gave the order to prepare for the last battle.
Suddenly an old man came out of the bushes. He realized what had happened and volunteered to save the partisan detachment from imminent death. He led the soldiers ford through the swamp, along an unknown path. The commander initially doubted the success of this event, but his team had no choice.
When the soldiers crossed the swamp and came to the ground, the commander took out a piece of paper and a pen to write down the name and address of the savior, he wanted to present him for a reward. But the mysterious old man has disappeared! Just disappeared into thin air in front of the astonished audience!
Knowledgeable people say that an old forest man lives in forests and swamps. There are many legends about this character. There are cases when children disappeared in the forest, they wandered through the windbreak for weeks.
When the missing were found, they told that an old man went with them, who fed and watered them. Surprisingly, these kids weren’t emaciated. Believers attribute these good deeds to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, who is able to save people even in the most desperate situations.
In the woods
In Soviet times, Fedor worked on a rotational basis – felling wood. Together with him, ten people worked in the brigade. The work was very hard, 12 hour shifts. It was about a kilometer from the house where the workers lived to the site of the felling.
Once the team was returning to the barracks from work. Fyodor was the last to go. The heat was unbearable, and I was thirsty and hungry. The guy was dizzy and he sat down on a tree stump. His eyes darkened sharply, he realized that he was about to lose consciousness.
Fyodor came to his senses when it was already getting dark. Around – not a soul, only a windbreak, but impassable jungle. Neither the path along which the guys returned from work, nor the clearing site behind. He began to shout, call for help – in response, silence and the croaking of crows. “And how did you get to this place?” – the man wondered.
The frightened man was seized with terror. Thoughts fussed in my head: “Is it really the end?” At that moment, someone lightly patted him on the shoulder. The guy turned around – a gray-haired old man of small stature and with a long beard stood in front of him. He looked kindly at the hard worker and said:
– What, son, got lost? Lagged behind the guys? So turn around, here is the path – follow it and go out to your own!
Fyodor looked around. And the truth: in front of him is the very path along which the brigade goes to the felling every day! But how did he not see her at once? The man wanted to thank the old man for his help, but he seemed to have sunk into the water, as if he was not there.
A few months later, Fedor went home on vacation, told his mother about what had happened to him. The mother listened to the story, specifying when exactly this happened. The son named the day (he remembered this date well from the birthday of one of his comrades), everything became clear to the woman.
She explained to her son that on that day she went to church and prayed to Saint Nicholas the Pleasant so that he would protect Fyodor from all adversity. So, maybe he heard her prayers and came to the aid of his son in a difficult life situation?
Elder’s help
Galina was born into a large family of seven. Parents worked from morning till evening on the collective farm, and all household chores and children were in the care of Gali. The girl washed, cleaned, cooked, fed the cattle and took care of the garden. There is always enough work in your home.
When the girl turned 17, the guys began to pay attention to her, invite her on dates. The girl was very pretty: blue eyes, ash-brown hair, a slender figure, attractive facial features.
– The girl is too good, – the local grandmothers whispered when they saw her.
Many in the village wanted to get such a bride for their son – hard-working, beautiful. He walks through the village like a swan swims. There was no end to the fans.
But trouble came from where they did not expect – Galya fell ill. Terrible boils were poured all over the girl’s body. What was not done with them! Nothing helped. The unfortunate woman was taken to the city hospital. There the girl was diagnosed with bone tuberculosis.
The disease progressed rapidly – the boils had already begun to turn into ulcers, which day by day became larger and deeper, right down to the meat.
There was no place to expect good treatment in the post-war period. They brought Galina home and put her in the summer kitchen. The exhausted girl was preparing to die. And it’s autumn outside – harvesting, the whole family in the field.
Miraculous savior
Once Galya lies in this summer kitchen and thinks about her own. Suddenly he hears: someone is coming. Listened – just steps! The dying woman opened her eyes, and in front of her was an old man, all gray. He lay down on the floor and said:
– Daughter, I’m very tired, I want to drink.
Galya handed him a ladle of water that stood by her bed.
– Uh no, honey, you bring me water from the well.
The unhappy woman wept bitterly:
– Grandpa, can’t you see that I can’t even get up?
But the elder was adamant:
– Get up and go get water!
It took the patient an incredible effort to get out of bed, get out of the kitchen, and draw water from the well. She brought water to the old man, he took a ladle in his hands, whispered something over him and gave it to the sick girl. Then he took out a bottle of ointment from his knapsack and placed it next to the bed.
– Wrong diagnosis, – said the grandfather. “You’ve got it.”
The old man ordered Galina to drink water and treat the ulcers with the ointment he had left. And he strictly forbade anyone to talk about his visit until he was fully recovered.
So Galya did. Gradually, her condition improved, the ulcers disappeared, but the scars from them remained for life. Later she learned from old people that “ozev” is damage. The old women, having heard this story, said that Nikolai the Pleasant himself came to her. He provides help and miraculous salvation to desperate people.
