Inhalation with mineral water is used for self-treatment of cough at home. This method of treatment is recommended even for children and is not inferior to drugs.
Mineral water inhalation is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get rid of coughs and clear phlegm from the airways.
Benefits of inhalation with mineral water
Mineral water inhalation helps to cope with cough. Mineral water contains a huge amount of useful substances; when evaporated, they gently and quickly penetrate the body, stopping inflammatory processes.
The main advantage of inhalations with mineral water is that they are absolutely harmless. Mineral water is a natural product, so there can be no harmful effects on the body. The resulting vapor immediately passes through the lungs and facilitates the rapid removal of phlegm.
If you do not know which mineral water to give preference to, then it is better to choose a trusted and high-quality product with an alkali content. For example, “Narzan”, “Essentuki” or “Borjomi”.
How to inhale with mineral water
A positive result can be guaranteed with strict adherence to the steps of inhalation with mineral water.
Before you start inhaling with mineral water, you must release the gas from the bottle. To speed up this process, pour the water into the container and stir it vigorously with a spoon. It takes at least 2 hours for the gas to completely evaporate, so it is best to open the water bottle overnight and leave it there until morning.
Mineral water inhalation is best done using an ultrasonic inhaler. In this case, you do not need to take any additional action. With a sterile syringe or using a measuring container, measure out 5 ml of water (or the amount of water for which the inhaler is designed), pour water into the reservoir and breathe in steam for 3-9 minutes. For children, this time should be halved.
In the absence of an inhaler, you can take an ordinary saucepan with a volume of 250 ml and pour mineral water into it. Warm up the liquid to 50 degrees. If the water temperature is lower, then the effect will not be, and if it is higher, then it can cause a burn of the upper respiratory tract.
Then bend over the pan and cover your head with a towel. Start inhaling vapors within 7 minutes, children – no more than 3 minutes. To speed up the positive result, inhalation with mineral water should be repeated regularly, up to 5-7 times a day (3-4 times for children).
Until complete recovery, it is best to stop walking in the fresh air. Especially immediately after inhalation with mineral water. Otherwise, you run the risk of catching a cold even worse. If you need to leave the house, wait a couple of hours after inhalation.
