An intellect map, or mind-maps, is a display on paper of an effective way to think, remember, remember, solve creative problems, as well as the ability to present and visually express your internal information processing processes, make changes to them, improve. Sometimes in Russian translations, the term can be translated as «mind maps», «mind maps», «intelligence maps», «memory maps» or «mental maps». The most convenient translation is «mind maps».

We perceive most of the information about the world visually, and therefore, a mind map is a good visual material that is easier to remember and easier to work with.

Mind maps (in the original Mind maps®) — the development of Tony Buzan, a well-known writer, lecturer and consultant on intelligence, the psychology of learning and thinking problems.

What for?

Mind maps are a tool that allows you to:

  • it is easier to work with information: remember, understand, restore logic.
  • it is convenient to use for the presentation of the material and a visual explanation of your position to the interlocutors
  • makes it easier to make decisions, create plans, develop projects.

Tips for creating mind maps

  • It is better if there are no more than 5-7 elements on the intelligence map. If there are more elements, try to group them together.
  • The mind map should be logical: the relationships between the elements are respected, what follows what, what relates to what and how.
  • It is better if the mind map has many different visual images that are easy to remember: use different colors, patterns, symbols.
  • It is always convenient when the mind map is symmetrical: so, having memorized one part of it, you can easily restore the other.
  • The key element should be central to the mind map. If you need to display a timeline, then usually on the left — the elapsed time, on the right — the future.
