The third wave of the coronavirus epidemic continues in Poland. Every day, the Ministry of Health informs about new cases of COVID-19, and these numbers have been hovering around 30 for several days. Today, the daily increase may be lower, but we should not be influenced by it. “The data that we receive from the weekend are definitely smaller data” – said Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska in “Sygnały Dnia”.

  1. On Sunday, March 28, we had 29 thousand in Poland. 253 new cases of coronavirus
  2. On Friday, March 26, a record of infections was recorded in our country. COVID-19 was then diagnosed in 35 thousand. 143 people
  3. Prof. Horban in an interview with Rzeczpospolita said that if the infection remains at 30 for three days, the government should decide to introduce such restrictions as in March 2020.

Kraska: The numbers are much smaller than during the week. It will be the same today

Deputy Minister of Health Waldemar Kraska was today a guest of “Sygnały Dnia” in Radio Jedynka. He said at the time that the number of new infections on Monday will be lower than in the past days. However, we should not treat these results as a signal that the situation in Poland is improving.

– The data we receive from the weekend are definitely smaller data. The numbers are much smaller than in the week. It will be the same today. But we can see that the upward trend continues if we compare Monday to Monday, so they will definitely be much lower than last week, but I would not be too attached to that, said Waldemar Kraska.

Dr. Fiałek: “Reporting is worse at weekends”

After the weekend, not only are the number of new COVID-19 cases falling, but also deaths. However, it is not the case that the virus “lets go” on Saturday and Sunday. Declines are observed only on paper, and it is associated with bureaucracy.

This is due to worse reporting during the weekend. Sometimes we have to complete certain procedures later, because some strictly administrative documents needed to issue a death certificate are missing. You need, among others wait for the family to provide an ID card. Often a patient who is taken off the street due to a deterioration in health is not with him. First you need to identify him, then inform the family. Then, in fact, the death is from Sunday, but may not be reported until Monday or even later. The main reasons for this are administrative issues. If we do not complete all the relevant fields on the death form, we cannot report it – explains doctor Bartosz Fiałek in an interview with Medonet.

Dr. Fiałek also emphasizes that these numbers do not disappear at all – they are supplemented in the following days.

– On weekends, reporting is worse at all levels, including the number of deaths. These deaths are reported on the following days, as all overdue documents needed to complete the death form are sent to the physician declaring the death. As you can see, the highest numbers are given by the Ministry of Health on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which means that some deaths from weekends can be reported on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. – adds the doctor.
